Abstract The development of efficient, cost-effective bioreactor systems is pivotal in biotechnological processes involving the production microbial products like pharmaceuticals, bio-fuels, and protein-rich biomass. Many models are commercially available all industries; however, prices usually exorbitant, making them inaccessible to low-budget research, schools, start-up companies. This article introduces a low-cost, DIY modular LSF system intended cultivate filamentous fungi other microorganisms following minimalist bubble column approach. Using standard sanitary tri-clamp (TC) fittings common hygienic industries household brewing setups, this assembly offers an affordable, adaptable, reparable, robust solution for at fraction cost commercial alternatives. In addition, wide range budget-friendly sensors controllers can be integrated monitor automate key parameters, these bioreactors equally accessible functional. concept unique its scalability customization possibilities, significantly reducing research prototyping costs.

The demand for cheap, healthy, and sustainable alternative protein sources has turned research interest into microbial proteins. Mycoproteins prevail due to their quite balanced amino acid profile, low carbon footprint high sustainability potential. goal of this was investigate the capability Pleurotus ostreatus metabolize main sugars agro-industrial side streams, such as aspen wood chips hydrolysate, produce high-value with cost. Our results indicate that P. LGAM 1123 could be cultivated both in a C-6 (glucose)- C-5(xylose)-sugar-containing medium mycoprotein production. A mixture glucose xylose found ideal biomass production content rich profile. cultivation 4 L stirred-tank bioreactor using hydrolysate achieved 25.0 ± 3.4 g L−1 production, 1.8 0.4 d−1 specific growth rate yield 54.5 0.5% (g/100 sugars). PCA analysis acids revealed strong correlation between composition produced ratios culture medium. high-nutrient by submerged fermentation edible fungus hydrolysates is promising bioprocess food feed industry.

Abstract Edible mushrooms are highly valued for both their culinary and medicinal properties. Unlike traditional condiments, the complex flavor of is not determined by a single component, but rather potential synergistic actions several different components chemical interactions. However, only limited number edible mushroom compounds have been examined in detail, leading to an incomplete understanding overall profile. To address this knowledge gap, it necessary conduct further scientific research on flavors maximize utilization. This review aims provide comprehensive overview substances found mushrooms, including volatile nonvolatile compounds, as well mechanisms which various processing methods affect flavor. Additionally, we will explore factors that hinder development recommend strategies advance technological theoretical these unique valuable food ingredients. In summary, enhancing our profile can better leverage full resource.
