In the context of digital economy, empowering firm innovation investment through transformation is an important strategy for promoting development in China. This study investigates effects and mechanisms on from perspective total factor productivity, using a sample manufacturing companies listed A-share market China 2012 to 2021. The following three main findings were obtained. First, results both fixed- random-effects regression methods revealed that significantly promotes firms' investment. conclusion remains robust after controlling endogeneity issues instrumental variable method replacing explanatory measurement methods. Second, stepwise analysis negative mediating mechanism productivity (TFP) impact level reason this improvement TFP intensifies competition capital labor input between production departments. Third, group heterogeneity found overall effect positive groups with low financing constraints high human capital, but not significant capital. Moreover, valid all groups, further validating departments input. Based governance by Chinese government, policy recommendations are proposed empower transformation.

Still, current empirical research does not yet provide ample evidence on how firm's posture towards digitalization connects performance. This study examines the link between digital orientation performance well moderating role of technological turbulence.
