Previous research has demonstrated that individuals with high levels of Intolerance Uncertainty (IU) have difficulty updating threat associations to safety associations. Notably, prior focused on measuring IU-related differences in and learning using arousal-based measures such as skin conductance response. Here we assessed whether could be captured eye-tracking metrics linked gaze behaviours dwelling scanning. Participants (N = 144) completed self-report questionnaires assessing IU trait anxiety. Eye movements were then recorded during each conditioning phase: acquisition, extinction learning, retention. Fixation count fixation duration served indices conditioned responding. Patterns typically reported for physiology observed the acquisition some extent but not There was little evidence specific between disrupted (e.g., greater differential responses vs. safe cues retention). Individuals high in self-reported Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU) tend to view uncertainty as unbearable and stressful. Notably, IU is transdiagnostic, levels are observed across many different emotional disorders (e.g., anxiety, depression). Research has primarily focused on how evokes modulates states such fear anxiety. However, recent research suggests that may have relevance for a broader range states. Here, an online survey was conducted examine whether negative fear/anxiety, sadness/upset, anger/frustration, disgust) positive happiness/joy, excitement/enthusiasm, surprise/interest) Findings within community sample (n = 231) revealed individuals with higher report: (1) general under ambiguity more likely evoke less states, (2) risk (3) heightens existing dampens Importantly, these IU-related findings remained when controlling current experiences distress, anxious arousal, anhedonic depression. Taken together, suggest involved evoking modulating wide array phenomena, which transdiagnostic models treatment plans disorders.

In this experiment, we used procedure which making response did not prevent participants from noticing that US follow warning stimuli. Renewal was assessed through a re-extinction phase context different acquisition phases. Our dependent measures included participants’ scores on P-IU TA, frequency responses per trial, post-trial relief ratings (used infer degree distress suffered during previous trial). found higher were associated with heightened safety signal had never been followed by phase, overall less steep reduction phase.
