Abstract Psychedelic Experience presents a philosophical account of psychedelic experience. A central premise the book is that such experiences are mind-revealing and they can be induced by means other than psychedelics. In particular, argues also had as result meditation. Background Theories propose that brief, mobile, self-guided mindfulness ecological momentary interventions (MEMIs) could enhance emotion regulation (ER) and self-compassion. Such changes are posited to be mechanisms of change. However, rigorous tests these theories have not been conducted. Objective In this assessor-blinded, parallel-group randomized controlled trial, we aimed test in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Methods Participants with SAD (defined as having a prerandomization cut-off score ≥20 on the Social Phobia Inventory self-report) were 14-day fully MEMI (96/191, 50.3%) or self-monitoring app (95/191, 49.7%) arm. They completed web-based self-reports 6 clinical outcome measures at prerandomization, 15-day postintervention (administered day after intervention ended), 1-month follow-up time points. ER self-compassion assessed preintervention 7-day midintervention Multilevel modeling determined efficacy domains from pretrial Bootstrapped parallel multilevel mediation analysis examined mediating role outcomes. Results demonstrated strong compliance, 78% (149/191) engaging least 80% prompts. was more efficacious than decreasing goal–directed behavior difficulties (between-group Cohen d=−0.24) lack emotional clarity (Cohen d=0.16) increasing connectedness d=0.19), nonidentification emotions d=0.16), self-kindness d=0.19) The within-group effect sizes larger arm (ER difficulties: d=−0.73 vs −0.29, clarity: d=−0.39 −0.21, connectedness: d=0.45 0.19, emotions: d=0.63 0.48, self-kindness: d=0.36 0.10). Self-monitoring, but MEMI, alleviated awareness issues d=0.11 within-group: d=−0.29 −0.13) reduced acknowledging shared human struggles d=0.26 d=−0.23 0.13). No mediators symptoms (P=.07-<.99), generalized (P=.16-.98), depression severity (P=.20-.94), repetitive negative thinking (P=.12-.96), trait (P=.18-.99) Similar nonsignificant effects emerged for all outcomes points (P=.11-.98). Conclusions Brief, self-guided, mobile MEMIs efficaciously increased specific decreased associated goal pursuit Higher-intensity may required pinpoint change SAD. Intolerance of uncertainty (IU), the tendency to find negative, is a fundamental transdiagnostic dimension across anxiety-related disorders. Over past two decades, there has been an increase in both clinical and experimental research on role IU maintenance treatment However, lack integration findings from mechanistic perspective, which slowed progress translational research. This review seeks fill this gap by synthesising (e.g. randomised controlled trials) lab-based) literature psychological mechanisms that drive change The highlighted that: (1) cognitive restructuring, supported such as appraisal, modify IU-related cognitions, (2) behavioural exposures, inhibitory learning, alter cognitions physiological arousal, (3) mindfulness techniques underpinned attentional monitoring, decentering, acceptance, cognitions. Across different therapeutic reviewed, was evidence for how emotions behaviours. Directions further include directly comparing effectiveness produce anxiety disorders other mental health disorders, examining specificity over anxious traits. Overall, provide foundation future efforts build upon maximising existing interventions and/or develop novel target dispositional situational uncertainty-related distress beyond.

Objective: To examine the added value of a 9-week mindful yoga intervention (MYI) as add-on to treatment usual (TAU) in reducing depression for young women (18-34 years) with major depressive disorder (MDD).Method: Randomized controlled trial (RCT; n = 171) comparing TAU + MYI TAU-only.Assessments were at baseline, postintervention, and 6-and 12-month follow-up.Primary outcome measures clinician-rated self-reported symptoms depression, together diagnostic interview establish MDD diagnosis that was restricted baseline follow-up assessments.Quality life various domains assessed secondary measure. As potential mediators efficacy, we included self-report rumination, self-criticism, self-compassion, intolerance uncertainty, perceived body awareness dispositional mindfulness, behavioral attentional bias (AB) depression-related self-associations.Results: Adding did not lead greater reduction symptoms, lower rate or increase quality functioning post assessments. There no indirect effects through any mediators, exception self-compassion.Conclusion: appeared more efficacious than TAU-only women. What is public health significance this article?Overall, study suggests adding does increased benefits terms stronger diagnosis, better within functioning.

Abstract This chapter presents a unifying theory of the psychedelic experiences induced by psychedelics and meditation. Both meditation are widely reported to 'expand’ awareness, and, given close relationship between awareness attention, argues that natural target analysis is attentional system. In case meditation, this especially clear since many meditative practices involve training. contrast, less clear. partly due limitations on empirical research, but more importantly, because regularly induce impairments performance. However, we need distinguish performance tasks from other qualities attention. The then proposes disrupt system, impairing but, at same time, freeing up resources, thus creating an surplus facilitates expansions awareness.

Emerging adulthood is a transitional period from adolescence to adulthood. During this time, there are many sources of stress due uncertainty, which can lead mental health disorders, especially for female individuals. Based on previous literature, mindfulness and self-efficacy against uncertainty be protective factors emerging adults (EA) in facing period. This study aims examine the relationship between among adult women. The utilizes quantitative approach with correlational method. Two measurement tools employed data collection: Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) Self-Efficacy Uncertainty Scale. participants consist 121 students aged 18 25 years, distributed Jakarta. results indicate positive significant uncertainty. higher level women, their vice versa, lower mindfulness, variation account 12.96% variance explain mindfulness.
