ABSTRACT The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors that challenge or motivate textile and apparel suppliers' implementation circular economy (CE) practices. Abstract Implementing the circular economy (CE) requires novel forms of stakeholder collaboration. While contemporary literature on theory is commonly characterized as “pro‐business‐oriented,” it remains ambiguous how precisely collaborations may pave way for a systemic CE transition. By applying qualitative‐empirical research approach utilizing semi‐structured interviews, this paper identifies three types governance collaborations—(i) company‐centric governance, (ii) industry‐oriented and (iii) cross‐industry‐oriented governance. Abstract This study addresses the challenges faced by small‐ and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs) in undertaking sustainability projects due to limited resources explores factors influencing SMEs' adoption of circular economy (CE) practices, an area under‐researched literature.
