Background: Although cataract surgery has been proposed as a potentially modifiable protective factor for enhancing emotional well-being in patients, studies examining the relationship between anxiety or depression and have yielded inconsistent findings. This review summarizes existing evidence to establish whether is associated with older adults. Methods: A literature search was conducted across PubMed, Medline, Web of Science, Embase databases. An initial screening by abstracts titles performed, followed assessment methodological quality relevant full papers, final inclusion 44 were deemed eligible this review. Results: Among included studies, 36 (81.8%) observational concerning association cataracts depression, four (9.1%) interventional reviews. Cataract notably enhances mental health individuals impaired vision. However, multifaceted nature psychological well-being, influenced various factors, suggests that may not address all aspects comprehensively. Additionally, preoperative significantly impact outcomes. Conclusion: Vision impairment adults closely increased symptoms anxiety. While surgical intervention improves these symptoms, it might be less effective disorders multifactorial causes. Notably, poses challenges successful intraoperative surgeries.

Abstract Purpose To adapt the Quality of Vision Questionnaire (QoV) for measuring negative dysphotopsia and to validate original modified versions in Dutch population. Methods The QoV was translated into according standardized methodology.
