Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are ubiquitous in the aquatic environment and have attracted extensive attention to their toxic effects on species. However, responses of nervous system AgNPs little known, especially co-existing with natural organic matter (NOM), which is critical for ability act Here, this study investigated neurotoxicology environmentally relevant or without bovine serum albumin (BSA; a classical NOM) zebrafish ( Danio rerio ) using visualized transgenic zebrafish. Exposure reduced locomotor behavior by 28%–45%, including swimming distance velocity, exhibiting obvious behavioral inhibition. The treated showed developmental retardation early development heart, central nervous, motor nerve, as well related neurodevelopment genes, may be responsible lowered behavior. In addition, can specifically interfere cholinergic affect neuronal signaling, ultimately leading abnormalities. BSA alleviated neurotoxicity zebrafish, partially attributed increased size electronegativity caused BSA, thus reducing direct interaction cells. between released Ag + from also alleviation dysfunction These findings provide valuable insights into toxicity risks environments.

Introduction: Learning and memory allow individuals to adapt their environmental needs survive. Fish have the ability solve complex learning tasks, associative learning, flexible spatial memory. The proto-oncogene fos ( c-fos ) has been reported be involved in brain development, mammals. However, whether plays a vital role fish is unclear. Methods: Almost all two paralogues of named fosaa fosab . We used CRISPR/Cas9 technology generate knockout zebrafish models. Results: In this study, we discovered weight marked reduction −/− compared with wild-type (WT) (AB strain) zebrafish. T-maze behavioral assay, took significantly more than average time complete assigned trial as increase days WT zebrafish, while did not show notable variance. was higher relative mRNA expression level c- jun that no discernible trend. Additionally, phylogenetic multiple amino acid alignment results indicated identity mammals Fos. Discussion: By integrating above results, found , but fosaa, may possess function fish. For first time, illustrated via fish, which can provide new insights into adaptation.

Dopamine (DA), an essential neurotransmitter, is closely associated with various neurological disorders, whose real-time dynamic monitoring significant for evaluating the physiological activities of neurons. Electrochemical sensing methods are commonly used to determine DA, but they mostly rely on redox reaction its o-phenolic hydroxyl group, which makes it difficult distinguish from substances this group. Here, we design a biomimetic nanozyme inspired by coordination structure copper-based active site dopamine β-hydroxylase, was successfully synthesized via urea-mediated MOF pyrolysis reconstruction strategy. Experimental studies and theoretical calculations revealed that Cu–N3 could hydroxylate carbon atom DA β-site at suitable potential sites have lowest binding energy β-site. Polyhalogenated carbazoles (PHCZs) are dioxin-like emerging contaminants, but limited information exists on their neurotoxicity and mechanisms. This study employed zebrafish embryos to investigate the adverse effects of 3-bromocarbazole (3-BCZ), a typical PHCZ, exposure in early life stages found that 120 h post fertilization (hpf)-median lethal concentration (LC50) value 3-BCZ larvae was 2.88 mg/L. The results revealed inhibited tail coiling at ≥0.06 mg/L, decreased hatchability ≥2.88 increased mortality malformation rates ≥1.44 induced aryl hydrocarbon receptor reduced body length ≥0.58 behavior activities Further mechanism investigations showed exposures repressed motor neuron axon via downregulating mRNA transcription levels α1-tubulin, Gap43, Syn2a, shha, central nervous system neurogenesis elavl3, nrd, mbp, gfap. Overall, induces developmental 0.06 mg/L (1/50 LC50). Tail activity 24 hpf swimming total distance could be ideal indicators health risks zebrafish. These findings provide valuable insights for ecological risk assessments other PHCZs.
