Non-targeted analysis (NTA) and suspect screening (SSA) are powerful techniques that rely on high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) computational tools to detect identify unknown or suspected chemicals in the exposome. Fully understanding chemical exposome requires characterization of both environmental media human specimens. As such, we conducted a review examine use different NTA SSA methods various exposure samples, including results detected. The literature was by searching databases, such as PubMed Web Science, for keywords, "non-targeted analysis", "suspect analysis" media. Sources discussed this include water, air, soil/sediment, dust, food consumer products. discovery biospecimen is also reviewed. space has been captured using varies analyzed analytical platform. In each were frequently detected were: per- polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) pharmaceuticals pesticides polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) soil sediment, volatile semi-volatile organic compounds flame retardants plasticizers products, plasticizers, pesticides, halogenated samples. Some studies reviewed herein used liquid chromatography (LC) gas (GC) HRMS increase (16%); however, majority (51%) only LC-HRMS fewer GC-HRMS (32%). Finally, knowledge technology gaps must be overcome fully assess potential exposures NTA. Understanding essential identifying prioritizing our sources prior exposures. Fluorinated liquid-crystal monomers (FLCMs) widely used in liquid crystal displays are considered to be a new generation of persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic contaminants. They have been detected the environment. However, little is known about their occurrence food human dietary exposure until now. Herein, we provided an evaluation health risks FLCMs Chinese adult population based on fifth sixth total diet studies (TDSs). The detection frequencies two surveys were 90.5 99.5%, with concentrations ranging from not ∼72.6 μg/kg wet weight (ww) ND ∼74.7 ww, respectively. All TDS samples contained multiresidue FLCMs. mean estimated daily intakes (EDIs) 172.86 163.10 ng/kg bw/day TDS, Meats, vegetables, cereals contributed most EDI According threshold toxicological concern (TTC) method, EDIs 1-fluoro-4-[2-(4-propylphenyl)ethynyl]benzene (4.56 3.26 bw/day) 2-fluoro-4-[4′-propyl-1,1′-bi(cyclohexyl)-4-yl]phenyl trifluoromethyl ether (3.12 3.28 above TTC value (2.5 bw/day), suggesting potential risk. Fluorinated liquid-crystal monomers (FLCMs), one class of emerging persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) compounds, are widely used in displays (LCDs). As a result, they have been found the environment serum from occupational workers. However, little is known about their occurrence non-occupational exposing populations. Herein, we provided an evaluation health risks FLCMs for infants based on breastfeeding exposure dust ingestion. The detection frequencies (DF) indoor breast milk was 100 %, with median concentrations 12.00 ng/g dry weight (dw) 133.40 lipid (lw), respectively. 1-butoxy-2,3-difluoro-4-(trans-4-propylcyclohexyl)benzene (BDPrB) predominant pollutant human milk. Significant positive correlations were observed between seven including BDPrB, (r = 0.275–0.660, P < 0.05). Further, associations also some demographic behavioral factors (P highest EDI ∑FLCMs who 1 month age, intake 700.35 ng/kg bw/day, which 1-ethoxy-2,3-difluoro-4-(trans-4-propylcyclohexyl)benzene (EDPrB), 4′-[(trans, trans)-4′-butyl[1,1′-bicyclohexyl]-4-yl]-3,4-difluoro-1,1′-biphenyl (BBDB) collectively contributed 94.4 % total EDIs. Liquid crystal monomers (LCMs) are indispensable materials in liquid displays, which have been recognized as emerging persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic organic pollutants. Occupational nonoccupational exposure risk assessment suggested that dermal is the primary route for LCMs. However, bioavailability possible mechanisms of to LCMs via skin absorption penetration remain unclear. Herein, we used EpiKutis 3D-Human Skin Equivalents (3D-HSE) quantitatively assess percutaneous nine LCMs, were detected e-waste dismantling workers' hand wipes with high detection frequencies. higher log Kow greater molecular weight (MW) more difficult penetrate through skin. Liquid crystal monomers (LCMs) are a family of synthetic organic chemicals applied in the liquid displays (LCDs) various electric and electronic products (e-products). Due to their unique properties (i.e., persistence, bioaccumulative potential, toxicity) widespread environmental distributions, LCMs have attracted increasing attention across world. Recent studies focused on source, distribution, fate, toxicity LCMs; however, comprehensive review is scarce. Herein, we highlighted persistence bioaccumulation potential by reviewing physical-chemical properties. The naming rules were suggested standardize abbreviations regarding LCMs. sources occurrences different compartments, including dust, sediment, soil, leachate, air particulate, human serum, biota samples, reviewed. It concluded that environment mainly originate from usage disassembly e-products with LCDs. Moreover, recycling removal technologies waste LCD panels suggests combination natural attenuation physic-chemical remediation should be developed for remediations future.
