Among the different naked and quasi-enveloped viruses, hepatitis A virus (HAV), E (HEV), norovirus genogroups I II (NoV GI NoV GII) are considered main microbiological noxae involved in foodborne outbreaks. Mussels can harbor pathogens their tissues. In addition to epidemiological attention, marine water temperature changes a crucial variable influencing viral loads. This study aimed biomolecularly screen 1775 farmed mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis) for ribonucleic acid (RNA) sequence detection (belonging HAV, HEV, GII genogroups) three sampling periods (spring, summer, winter), with collected from farms located Central Adriatic Sea (Italy). The results showed that 10.42% of screened animals harbored at least one type pathogen RNA, more specifically, 5.35% 4.51% GI, 0.56% HAV. highest genetic equivalent (GE) amounts were majorly observed winter season 1.0 × 103 GE/g HEV 102 GE/g), resulting statistical differences when compared summer spring (p-value: <0.001). original data obtained serve bring scientific attention possible influence environmental climatic aspects on loads, highlighting role played by biomolecular assays as preventive medicine tools.

Seafood plays a vital role in human diets worldwide, serving as an important source of high-quality protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and essential vitamins minerals that promote health prevent various chronic conditions. The benefits seafood consumption are well documented, including reduced risk cardiovascular diseases, improved cognitive function, anti-inflammatory effects. However, the safety is compromised by multiple hazards can pose significant risks. Pathogenic microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, parasites, addition to microbial metabolites, prominent causes foodborne diseases linked consumption, necessitating reliable detection monitoring systems. Molecular biology digital techniques have emerged tools for rapid accurate identification these pathogens, enhancing protocols. Additionally, presence chemical contaminants such heavy metals (e.g., mercury lead), microplastics, per- polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) increasing concern due their potential accumulate food chain adversely affect health. biogenic amines formed during degradation proteins allergens present certain species also contribute challenges. This review aims address nutritional value health-promoting effects while exploring multifaceted risks associated with contamination, pollutants, naturally occurring substances.
