Abstract
There
has
been
considerable
research

confusion
and
frustration
that

two
unitary
constructs,
distinct
from
each
other.

this
article,
we
argue
there

of
different

impacts,

between

Our
proposal

article

awe.
To
make
argument,
we
first
review
recent
advances

scientific
study

awe,

Affective
experiences
are
commonly
represented
by
either
transient
emotional
reactions
to
discrete
events
or
longer
term,
sustained
mood
states
that
characterized
a
more
diffuse

global

can

mood-congruent
memory
(MCM),
psychological

Abstract
Metaphors,
arguments
and
emotional
appeals
have
considerable
persuasive
power
in
political
discourse,
yet
they
are
rarely
studied
together.
To
explore
the
interactions
between
these
interrelated
phenomena,
we
employ
three
methods
of
analysis:
Metaphor
Identification
Procedure,
Inference
Anchoring
Theory,
lexicon-based
sentiment
analysis.
Our
data
come
from
Polish
debates
broadcasted
during
2019
pre-election
campaign.
We
test
hypotheses
about
frequency
associations
metaphors,
appeals.

predicts
that

metaphors
more
frequent
than
without
hypothesis

any
other

results
show
metaphorical

Theory
(SFT)

emotion
science

social

we
expand
upon
SFT
