Climate change, the growth in world population, high levels of food waste and loss, risk new disease or pandemic outbreaks are examples many challenges that threaten future sustainability security planet urgently need to be addressed. The fourth industrial revolution, Industry 4.0, has been gaining momentum since 2015, being a significant driver for sustainable development successful catalyst tackle critical global challenges. This review paper summarizes most relevant 4.0 technologies including, among others, digital (e.g., artificial intelligence, big data analytics, Internet Things, blockchain) other technological advances smart sensors, robotics, twins, cyber-physical systems). Moreover, insights into trends (such as 3D printed foods) have emerged result revolution will also discussed Part II this work. significantly modified industry led substantial consequences environment, economics, human health. Despite importance each mentioned above, ground-breaking solutions could only emerge by combining simultaneously. Food era characterized challenges, opportunities, reshaped current strategies prospects production consumption patterns, paving way move toward 5.0.

Abstract Post‐harvest fruits and vegetables are extremely susceptible to dramatic accelerated quality deterioration deriving from their metabolism adverse environmental influences. Given vigorous physiological metabolism, monitoring means lacking due the extent that unnecessary waste damage caused. Numerous intelligent packaging studies have been hitherto carried out investigate potential for fruit vegetable monitoring. This state‐of‐the‐art overview begins with recent advances in target metabolites of vegetables. Subsequently, mechanisms action between materials presented. In particular, exact categorization function vegetables, all extensively comprehensively described. addition, sake further research this field, obstacles impede scaling up commercialization also explored, present valuable references.

Nowadays, due to the changes in lifestyle and great interest of consumers a healthy life, people have started increasing their seafood consumption. But short shelf experts are looking for new packaging called smart (SMP) seafood. There different indicators/sensors SMP; one effective indices is time-temperature, which can show best time using based on life experienced temperature. Another radio-frequency identification (RFID) that transmission device represents separate form electronic information-based SMP systems. RFID does not belong any categories markers or sensors; it an auto recognition system applies cordless sensors indicate segments collect real-time information without manual interposition. This review covers use all marine foods, including fish, its high consumption content polyunsaturated fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (C20:5n-3) docosahexaenoic (C22:6n-3), considerable factors n-3 acids human.
