Platelets are essential for blood clotting and maintaining normal hemostasis. In pathological conditions, platelets increasingly recognized as crucial regulatory factors in various immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. Resting induced by such immune complexes through Fc receptors, platelet-targeting autoantibodies other platelet-activating stimuli. Platelet activation immunological processes involves the release of stimuli, antigen presentation interaction with cells. participate both innate system (neutrophils, monocytes/macrophages, dendritic cells (DCs) Natural Killer (NK) adaptive (T B cells). Clinical therapeutic strategies include targeting platelet activation, platelet-immune cell platelet-endothelial interaction, which display positive development prospects. Understanding mechanisms immunity is important, developing targeted modulations these will pave way promising strategies.

Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are essential for immune defense and have been increasingly recognized their role in infection inflammation. In the context of airway inflammatory diseases, there is growing evidence suggesting involvement significance NETs. This review aims to provide an overview formation mechanisms components NETs impact on various including acute lung injury/ARDS, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) cystic fibrosis. By understanding inflammation, we can gain valuable insights into underlying pathogenesis these diseases identify potential targets future therapeutic strategies that either target or modulate harmful effects. Abstract In recent years, the association between neuroinflammatory markers and dementia, especially Alzheimer’s disease (AD), has attracted much attention. However, evidence for relationship serum-hs-CRP dementia including AD are inconsistent. Therefore, relationships of serum high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) with regions interest brain MRI were investigated. A total 11,957 community residents aged 65 years or older recruited in eight sites Japan (JPSC-AD Study). After applying exclusion criteria, 10,085 participants who underwent blood tests health-related examinations analyzed. Then, hs-CRP levels classified according to clinical cutoff values, odds ratios presence all-cause its subtypes calculated each level. addition, volume was also examined using analysis covariance data from 8614 individuals same cohort MRI. multivariable adjustment, (ORs) 1.04 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.76–1.43), 1.68 (95%CI 1.08–2.61), 1.51 1.08–2.11) 1.0–1.9 mg/L, 2.0–2.9 ≥ 3.0 respectively, compared < 1.0 those 0.72 0.48–1.08), 1.76 1.08–2.89), 1.61 1.11–2.35), mg/L. Multivariable-adjusted ORs prevalence increased significantly increasing ( p trend 0.001 = 0.001, respectively). multivariable-adjusted temporal cortex volume/estimated intracranial ratio decreased (< mg/L 4.28%, 4.27%, 4.29%, 4.21%; 0.004). This study’s results suggest that elevated associated greater risk AD, atrophy a community-dwelling Japanese population.

Vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) spans severity range from mild deficits severe loss of function vascular dementia. Chronic cerebral hypoperfusion emerged as significant contributor VCI, instigating pathologies such microbleeds, blood-brain barrier dysfunction, neuronal loss, white matter lesions. Preclinical studies rodents strongly suggest that IF the attenuate pathological mechanisms, excitotoxicity, oxidative stress, inflammation, cell death pathways VCI models. Hence, this supports evaluating clinical trials existing at-risk patients. This review compiles data supporting IF's treating VCI-related pathologies, emphasizing mechanisms by which may mitigate these issues. Abstract Immunoinflammation is associated with the development of post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI), however, peripheral immunity has not been fully explored. We aimed to investigate association between PSCI and immune indicators, including neutrophil, lymphocyte, mononuclear percentages counts; systemic inflammation index; platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio; neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR); lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio. A total 224 patients acute minor ischemic stroke or transient attack 6–12 months follow-up were included. was defined as a Montreal Cognitive Assessment score < 22 during period. performed logistic regression, subgroup analyses based on age sex, further established predictive models. found that increased innate indicators (neutrophils, neutrophil percentage) risk PSCI, whereas adaptive indicator (lymphocytes) protective against especially in aged 50–65 years. Neutrophil percentage NLR improved efficacy models included demographic, clinical, imaging information, area under curve from 0.765 0.804 0.803 ( P = 0.042 0.049, respectively). conducted comprehensive analysis providing novel perspective early detection, etiology, treatment PSCI.

When becomes chronic, it can become pathological fuel causing glial cells malfunction not perform their function clearing resulting in further damage neurons.
