Abstract The tannery industry plays a significant role in the economy but poses severe environmental threat due to its high water and chemical usage, leading wastewater generation with concentration of pollutants. This contains range contaminants created throughout leather manufacturing process, making effluent disposal challenge for industry. tanning process also contributes significantly pH, biological oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended solids (TSS), (COD), dissolved (TDS), concentrations T Cr, Cr(III), Cr(VI), Cl−, sulfate, sulfide, inorganic constituents wastewater. review paper provides concise overview origins characteristics post-tanning effluent, different treatment techniques, applications treated Comparing prominent technologies, adsorption advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) effectively improved biodegradability before treatment. AOPs, enzymatic, adsorption, coagulation upgraded desired levels disposal. Additionally, membrane separation have shown pertinency cases where is intended reuse, whereas hybrid technologies can be answer better cost-effective results.

This review article presents past and current alginate-based materials in each application, showing the widest range of alginate’s usage development recent years. The first segment emphasizes unique characteristics alginates their origin. second sets according to application based on features limitations. Alginate is a polysaccharide generally occurs as water-soluble sodium alginate. It constitutes hydrophilic anionic polysaccharides originally extracted from natural brown algae bacteria. Due its promising properties, such gelling, moisture retention, film-forming, it can be used environmental protection, cosmetics, medicine, tissue engineering, food industry. comparison publications with products field food, cosmetics scientific articles showed that greatest number was assigned (30,767) medicine (24,279), whereas fewer were available cosmetic (5692) industries (24,334). Data are provided Google Scholar database (including abstract, title, keywords), accessed May 2023. In this review, various alginate described, detailed information modified composites possible usage. Alginate’s water remediation significant value highlighted. study, existing knowledge compared, paper concludes future prospects.

The food chain, through vegetable consumption, is considered to be an important route of heavy metal exposure. Therefore, in this study, concentrations leafy vegetables grown the Jazan region Saudi Arabia were assessed using ICP-MS. Lettuce, radish, mint, parsley and jarjir (Arugula) selected for study subjected digestion HCl. results indicated that Fe level was highest all vegetables, while most contaminated vegetable. However, no tested exceeded maximum permissible limits set by FAO/WHO European Committee. possible health hazards associated with exposure contaminants via consumption evaluated estimating target hazard quotient (THQ) values, revealed close proximity city those Darb least. daily intakes metals well below corresponding oral reference doses (RfDs), THQ values less than unity, suggesting studied safe unlikely cause adverse effects local inhabitants region.
