Abstract Microelectronic devices can directly communicate with biology, as electronic information be transmitted via redox reactions within biological systems. By engineering biology’s native networks, we enable interrogation and control of systems at several hierarchical levels: proteins, cells, cell consortia. First, electro-biofabrication facilitates on-device component assembly. Then, electrode-actuated data transmission redox-linked synthetic biology allows programming enzyme activity closed-loop electrogenetic cellular function. Specifically, horseradish peroxidase is assembled onto interdigitated electrodes where electrode-generated hydrogen peroxide controls its activity. E. coli ’s stress response regulon, oxyRS , rewired to algorithm-based feedback gene expression, including an eCRISPR module that switches cell-cell quorum sensing communication from one autoinducer another—creating electronically controlled ‘bilingual’ cell. these disparate redox-guided are wirelessly connected, enabling real-time user-based control. We suggest methodologies will help us better understand develop sophisticated for biology.

ABSTRACT Electrodeposition of polysaccharides offers an attractive strategy for fabricating nanoparticles and their nanocomposite films on electrodes to develop bioelectronic devices functional materials. Herein, a controllable approach the green preparation nanosilver (nAg) with variable sizes is developed based coordinated electrodeposition carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC). In addition serving as electrodeposited polysaccharide, CMC can function reducing agent stabilizer preparing nAg. After electrodeposition, uniform smooth (nAg/CMC films) have been deposited anodic electrode. Spectral analysis transmission electron microscopy confirm presence nAg in films. Especially, adjustable particle (ranging from 2.03 13.62 nm) be achieved through straightforward convenient control conditions (voltage, temperature). Moreover, endowed unique fluorescent properties since silver nanoclusters (Ag NCs) relatively small size controllably prepared. The nAg/CMC film‐modified show potential electrochemical detection that film containing small‐sized Ag NCs exhibits good sensitivity. Thus, this study provides novel, facile, controllable, eco‐friendly promisingly applied prepare nanocomposites specific special properties.

Foams are widely used for applications in construction, energy absorption, and building insulation. We developed sustainable chitin/chitosan-based foams derived from snow crab Aspergillus niger (α-chitin) squid (β-chitin), which were obtained via a "shake bake" process. The foam structure, mechanical, thermophysical, sound flammability properties studied. Stable chitin, whereas A.niger-based inhomogeneous. the former biomass sources displayed densities of 0.07–0.30 g/cm3 bulk porosities 78–94% with only minimal number closed pores. According to mercury porosimetry (MP) X-ray computed microtomography (μXRCT), pore sizes ranged 3 μm 1.5 mm, majority pores being larger than 400 μm. In mechanical compression tests, β-chitin-based showed higher specific compressive strength modulus (up σ0.1* = 9.00 MPa/E* 107.37 MPa) compared α-chitin-based series. Dynamic vapor sorption (DVS) measurements revealed that β-chitin (from squid) series overall took up more water (≤40 wt %) α-chitin crab) (≤33 %). Flammability tests suitable fire protection class E, superior common polyurethane (PU) foams, absorption promising results little influenced by humidity.

We report the integration of 3D printing, electrobiofabrication, and protein engineering to create a device that enables near real-time analysis monoclonal antibody (mAb) titer quality. printing was used macroscale architecture can control fluidic contact sample with multiple electrodes for replicate measurements. An "chip" configured as "snap-in" module connecting printed housing containing electronic communication systems. Electrobiofabrication functionalize each electrode by assembly hydrogel interface biomolecular recognition capture proteins. Specifically, an electrochemical thiol oxidation is assemble thiolated polyethylene glycol hydrogel, in turn covalently coupled either cysteine-tagged G binds antibody's Fc region or lectin glycans target mAb analytes. first show design, assembly, testing hardware device. Then, we transition step-by-step sensing methodology (e.g., mix, incubate, wash, measure) into current method where functionalization, capture, assessment are performed situ parallel channels. Both glycan analyses were found be linear concentration (to 0.2 mg/L). further interfaces could reused remarkably similar results. Because use simple, rapid, robust, suggest this will widely applicable, including other process development manufacturing environments.
