The Gram-positive bacterium Listeria monocytogenes is a highly adaptable pathogen capable of causing severe foodborne infections, particularly in vulnerable populations. During infection, L. uses variety virulence factors to invade and multiply within host cells. transcriptional regulator PrfA controls the expression these essential for intracellular lifestyle . Long-chain unsaturated free fatty acids (FFAs) have long been recognized their antimicrobial activity were recently shown inhibit PrfA-dependent gene To date, anti-virulent activities FFAs primarily studied laboratory strains. However, fully evaluate potential as anti-infective agents, it assess effects long-chain on clinically relevant isolates, including outbreak strains associated with high-fat food products. Here, we demonstrate that five different isolates are sensitive FFAs. Furthermore, at subinhibitory concentrations, PrfA-regulated across all tested reduce invasive non-phagocytic These findings underscore developing new preventive strategies against infections.

The severe threat of microbial contamination to human life and health safety necessitates urgent research development antimicrobial materials capable inhibiting or eradicating pathogens. Cyclodextrin metal-organic framework (CD-MOF) was utilized as a carrier encapsulate gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), resulting in composite material (Au@CD-MOF) that exhibited remarkable antibacterial properties. study revealed Au@CD-MOF completely eradicated Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes) at concentration approximately 1 × 105 CFU/mL after 48 h 36 h, respectively. Moreover, also demonstrated the complete elimination Escherichia coli O157:H7 (E. O157:H7), Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 (P. Abstract Cronobacter sakazakii is a foodborne pathogen predominately transmitted through contaminated dried foods and affects populations including neonates, infants, the elderly. Following several recent outbreaks, it now notifiable infection in those under 12 months of age. Current control methods include strict manufacturing guidelines, with monitoring this genus legal requirement powdered infant formula production. Fatty acids have long been known as antimicrobials, long‐chain fatty increasingly identified agents that target virulence factors. This study gives insight into changes promoted by three unsaturated (oleic, linoleic, α‐linolenic) on C. growth, morphology, biofilm formation. Each acid was individually introduced to 29544 both sole carbon source an addition complex media. comparison untreated control, bacterial cells treated these showed significant media‐dependent impact growth inhibition. With further characterization, acids, α‐linolenic acid, could be utilized method minimal safety constraints regarding their use food production environment.
