Many polymers have been reported as encapsulated agents, such sodium alginate, gum Arabic, chitosan, cellulose carboxymethylcellulose, pectin, Shellac, xanthan gum, zein, pullulan, maltodextrin, whey protein, galactomannan, modified starch, polycaprolactone, caseinate. The main methods investigated in the study include both physical chemical ones, freeze-drying, spray-drying, extrusion, coacervation, complexation, supercritical anti-solvent drying. Consequently, area, peptides, vitamins, essential oils, caffeine, plant extracts, fatty acids, flavonoids, carotenoids, terpenes are encapsulated. In lipids, phytotoxins, medicines, vaccines, hemoglobin, microbial metabolites Most scientific investigations one or more objectives, to improve stability formulated systems, increase release time, retain protect active properties, reduce lipid oxidation, maintain organoleptic present bioactivities even extreme thermal, radiation, pH conditions. Considering increasing worldwide interest biomolecules modern sustainable agriculture, can be efficient formulation biofungicides, biopesticides, bioherbicides, biofertilizers. With this review, it is inferred that current indicates production by scales techno-economic feasibilities. Technology Readiness Level (TRL) most going beyond TRL 6, which knowledge gathered allows having a functional prototype representative model technologies presented review.

Abstract Rosemary ( Rosmarinus officinalis L.) is one of the most famous spice plants belonging to Lamiaceae family as a remarkably beautiful horticultural plant and economically agricultural crop. The essential oil rosemary has been enthusiastically welcome in whole world for hundreds years. Now, it wildly prevailing promising functional food additive human health. More importantly, due its significant aroma, food, nutritional value, also plays an role food/feed packaging industries. Modern industrial development fundamental scientific research have extensively revealed unique phytochemical constituents with biologically meaningful activities, which closely related diverse health functions. In this review, we provide comprehensively systematic perspective on by summarizing structures various pharmacological components, activities their molecular regulatory networks required developments, recent advances applications industry. Finally, temporary limitations future trends regarding components are discussed prospected. Hence, review covering developing prospects desirable demand facilitate better understanding, will serve reference many insights promotion foods rosemary.

The spotted wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii) is one of the main invasive pests small fruits in world. Thus, 19 essential oils (EOs) were selected to analyze effects through toxicity and repellency on oviposition D. suzukii adults. In addition, their lethal sublethal pupal endoparasitoid Trichopria anastrephae evaluated. EOs C. flexuosus Mentha spp. had highest observed topical application bioassay for suzukii. contrast, verum, citratus QT citratus, winterianus showed ingestion dry residues verum reduced bioassays, analyzed repelled ≅ 90% females. All evaluated using LC90 values products provided mortality less than 20% T. adults did not cause a reduction parasitism surviving We conclude that have potential be used management They can also serve as selective active ingredients formulation synthesis new biopesticides.

Rosmarinus officinalis (Lamiaceae family), also known as "alecrim," is a perennial herb, typical of the Mediterranean region and widely distributed in Brazilian territory. Despite having demonstrated several properties human interest, insecticide/larvicidal effect essential oil from R. on insects remains unclear. In this study, we tested effects biomarkers oxidative damage Drosophila melanogaster. Exposure to increased adult mortality decreased geotaxis behavior fruit flies. addition, larval impaired developmental success D. showed significant repellent effect, with duration time about 6 h. To understand mechanism underlying toxicity both pro-oxidant were evaluated exposed caused redox imbalance impairment enzymatic non-enzymatic antioxidant system lipid peroxidation levels. These results suggest that can be used bioinsecticide and/or larvicide well an alternative insect repellent.

Abstract BACKGROUND Spotted‐wing drosophila, Drosophila suzukii , is an economic pest of small fruits and cherries. Insecticides primarily control this while alternative controls are in development. Laboratory studies show that erythritol insecticidal to D. other pests approved for human consumption. Moreover, combined with sucrose or non‐caloric sucralose can stimulate feeding quicken mortality. Before growers use erythritol, the impact on crop protection, non‐target insects, fruit quality need evaluation. RESULTS In three blueberry cherry field cage trials, oviposition sprayed erythritol:sucrose erythritol:sucralose formulations was lowered by 59%–81% compared unsprayed controls. Fly infestation (larval adult counts from fruit) 90% lower a greenhouse trial, 49% open trial 2 m : 0.5 sucrose. Infestation also 57% 1.5 erythritol:0.5 Other trials very low pressure frequent rains revealed no differences Field consistently honey bees did not preferentially visit plants either formulation, although yellow jackets visited more frequently. Erythritol led leaf spotting, but there reduction treated blueberries cherries terms mold development, firmness, diameter, epidermal penetration force, Brix° (total soluble solids) at harvest. CONCLUSION Eleven conducted over four years reduce without attracting foraging nor negatively impacting quality. © 2023 Society Chemical Industry.
