Polyphenols are secondary metabolites produced by plants, which contribute to the plant’s defense against abiotic stress conditions (e.g., UV radiation and precipitation), aggression of herbivores, plant pathogens. Epidemiological studies suggest that long-term consumption polyphenols protects cardiovascular disease, cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases. Their structural diversity has fascinated confronted analytical chemists on how carry out unambiguous identification, exhaustive recovery from plants organic waste, define their nutritional biological potential. The food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical industries employ fruits vegetables produce additives, additional foods, supplements. In some cases, nanocarriers have been used protect during food processing, solve issues related low water solubility, transport them site action, improve bioavailability. This review summarizes structure-bioactivity relationships, processing parameters impact polyphenol stability bioavailability, research progress in nanocarrier delivery, most innovative methodologies for agri-waste materials.

Developing biodegradable active films has been a promising green approach to overcoming global concerns over the environmental pollution and human health caused by plastic utilization. This study aimed develop based on chitosan (CS), produced from waste crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) shells enriched with bioactive extract (5-20%) of propolis (PS) characterize its properties, envisaging food packaging applications. The chromatographic profile PS confirmed richness, 41 phenolic compounds. With increasing addition chitosan, thickness increased 61.7 71.7 μm, causing reduction in light transmission rate, along greenish colour shift. interactions between CS was infrared spectroscopy, at same time that microstructural integrity checked scanning electron microscopy micrographs. findings also showed enhanced thermal stability mechanical properties e.g., tensile modulus, yield strength, stress break. Besides, it improved antioxidant antimicrobial activities. Overall, CS-based composite seem alternative petroleum-based synthetic plastics allowing extend shelf life products due their eco-friendly nature.

Abstract Food loss and waste is a major issue affecting food security, environmental pollution, producer profitability, consumer prices, climate change. About 1.3 billion tons of products are yearly lost globally, with China producing approximately 20 million soybean dregs annually. Here, we review agricultural byproducts emphasis on the strategies to convert this into valuable materials. Byproducts can be used for animal plant nutrition, biogas production, food, extraction oils bioactive substances, production vinegar, wine, edible coatings organic fertilizers. For instance, compounds represent 8–20% apple pomace, 5–17% orange peel, 10–25% grape seeds, 3–15% pomegranate 2–13% date palm seeds. Similarly, pharmaceutical industry uses 6.5% total output gelatin derived from fish bones skin. Animals fed peel olive pomace improved concentration deoxyribonucleic acid protein, litter size, milk yield, nest characteristics. Biogas amounts 57.1% using residue, 53.7% papaya 49.1% sugarcane bagasse.
