The widespread and injudicious usage of antibiotics to contain pathogenic microbial infections, coupled with inadequate treatment wastes containing non-metabolized their residues is resulting in rising environmental antibiotic concentrations, leading 'antibiotic pollution'. Antibiotic pollution an emerging global challenge as it proving a major driver for antibiotic- or antimicrobial-resistance (ABR/ AMR) escalating ramifications worldwide, precipitating surge human morbidity. extensive administration across domains such healthcare settings, agriculture, aquaculture farming endangers the presence diverse matrices including water, soil, air. As result, this dissemination significantly leads development resistance profuse sectors environment further provoking consequential health implications at different trophic levels. Owing its significance, mitigate subsequential AMR, governmental guidelines regulations are implemented globe cultivate public awareness concerted efforts addressing predicament. Given insufficient attention growing issues, prompt must be taken contemplate current circumstances rigor ongoing research. In review, we endeavor elucidate escalation concentration antibiotic-driven AMR air, soil environments potential threats. Further, focuses on various strategies interventions attenuate adverse impacts infrastructure, highlighting success stories, challenges, future directions.

Sulfolane is a groundwater pollutant. While sulfolane miscible in pure water, its miscibility the presence of ions has not been widely investigated. This aspect relevant to predict migration groundwater. Na2SO4 separates from yielding bulk separation, emulsions seen by optical microscopy or molecular clusters. We study these clusters with fluorescence spectroscopy, small-angle x ray (SAXS) and neutron (SANS) scattering, x-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS). Fluorescence spectroscopy reveals non-monotonic changes local viscosity water phase 10% 0.25-1M Na2SO4, likely resulting interplay between clustering enhanced interactions molecules. NaCl affects micro-viscosity similarly but at higher concentrations. At low percentages, Cl− decreases activity coefficients sulfolane, suggesting stronger sulfolane–sulfolane water–water interactions. SAXS confirms that induces clustering. data modeled power law Gaussian reveal correlation length ξ = 16.3 Å, which we view as radius cluster surrounded Na+ ions. SANS also shows 2 mol. % sulfate chloride salts induce clustering, sulfates having more marked effect. Furthermore, XAFS affect sorption onto Si3N4 surfaces. Without directly sorbs Conversely, sorbed Si3N4, because it surrounds Also, hydrated are surface proximity.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a serious global health issue, aggravated by antibiotic overuse and misuse in human medicine, animal care, agriculture. This study looks at the different mechanisms that drive AMR, such as environmental contamination, horizontal gene transfer, selective pressure, well severe implications of AMR for health. demonstrates need concerted efforts across scientific, healthcare, agricultural, policy sectors to control emergence AMR. Some crucial strategies discussed include developing antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programs, encouraging targeted narrow-spectrum use, emphasizing significance strict regulatory frameworks surveillance systems, like Global Resistance Use Surveillance System (GLASS) Access, Watch, Reserve (AWaRe) classification. also emphasizes national international action plans combating promotes One Health strategy, which unifies environmental, animal, concludes preventing spread maintaining effectiveness antibiotics future generations requires comprehensive, multidisciplinary, internationally coordinated strategy.

Under pressure from surface water pollution and climate change, groundwater becomes a critical source. Information on quality could contribute to effective management. This study was carried out utilize multivariate statistical analysis the index (GWQI) evaluate in Ca Mau Province, Vietnam. Twenty-five samples residential-urban areas, cemetery landfill saline intrusion areas were collected for this study. Groundwater evaluated using National Technical Regulation Quality (QCVN 09-MT:2015/BTNMT) GWQI. Principal component (PCA) used identify potential polluting sources key variables influencing quality. Cluster (CA) applied cluster quality, sites recommended future monitoring. The results revealed that NH4+-N contaminated area, while area polluted by TDS NH4+-N. classified as excellent, good, poor, very poor accounted 44, 40%, 12%, 4%, respectively. divided into four groups, mainly based presence of TDS. Nine sampling locations be removed current program but still ensuring representativeness result CA. PCA proposed two main variation at each area: landfilling area. parameters (i.e., pH, TDS, permanganate index, NH4+-N, NO3--N, Fe) should continued monitor. Domestic industrial wastewater discharge, leachate cemeteries landfills, nature aquifers, seawater variation. findings provide scientific information local environmental authorities manage monitor Doi: 10.28991/CEJ-2024-010-03-03 Full Text: PDF
