Abstract Alternaria species are mycotoxin-producing fungi known to infect fresh produce and cause their spoilage. Humans get exposed fungal secondary metabolites as mycotoxin via the ingestion of contaminated food. Alternariol (AOH) (C 14 H 10 O 5 ) is an isocoumarins produced by different including alternata . AOH often found in grain, fruits fruits-based food products with high levels legumes, nuts, tomatoes. was first discovered 1953, it nowadays linked esophagus cancer endocrine disruption due its similarity estrogen. Although considered emerging no regulated food, occurs highly consumed dietary has been detected various masked forms, which adds occurrence. Therefore, this comprehensive review developed give overview on recent literature field AOH. The current study summarizes published data occurrence last ten years evaluates those comparison recommended regulating entities. Such surveillance facilitates work health risk assessors highlights commodities that most need regulation. In addition, effects cells animal models were summarized two tables; include two-year studies. addresses also main characteristics possible human exposure routes, populations at risk, effect anthropogenic activities widespread mycotoxin. commonly used detection control methods described latest discussed guide future researchers focus mitigating mycotoxins contamination industry. This aims mainly serve a guideline for regulation developers assessors.

Consumers in developed and Western European countries are becoming more aware of the impact food on their health, they demand clear, transparent, reliable information from industry about products consume. They recognise that safety risks often due to unexpected presence contaminants throughout supply chain. Among these, mycotoxins produced by food-infecting fungi, endogenous toxins certain plants organisms, pesticides, other drugs used excessively during farming production, which lead contamination accumulation foodstuffs, main causes concern. In this context, goals review provide a comprehensive overview toxic molecules reported foodstuffs since 2020 through Rapid Alert System for Food Feed (RASFF) portal use chromatography address challenge. Overall, natural toxins, environmental pollutants, food-processing most frequently molecules, liquid gas approaches control. However, faster, simpler, powerful analytical procedures necessary cope with growing pressures chain supply.

ABSTRACT Alternaria alternata FB1 is a marine fungus identified as candidate for plastic degradation in our previous study. This has been recently shown to produce secondary metabolites with significant antimicrobial activity against various pathogens, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and the notorious aquaculture pathogen Vibrio anguillarum . The antibacterial compounds were purified alternariol (AOH) its derivative, monomethyl ether (AME). We found that AOH AME primarily inhibited pathogenic bacteria (MRSA or V. ) by disordering cell division some other key physiological biochemical processes. further demonstrated could effectively inhibit unwinding of MRSA topoisomerases, which are closely related potential action target AOH. activities verified using zebrafish vivo model. Notably, did not significantly affect viability normal human liver cells at concentrations Finally, we developed genetic operation system A. blocked biosynthesis knocking out omtI (encoding an O-methyl transferase), facilitated only development this will accelerate discovery novel natural products bioactivity IMPORTANCE More more scientific reports indicate derivative (AME) exhibit activities. However, limited exploration their detailed mechanisms performed. In present study, produced disclosed vitro Given low toxicity on line under exhibiting different proposed be good candidates developing promising antibiotics also succeeded blocking AME, us easily obtain pure Moreover, based results, was enable polyethylene degradation.

Alternariol (AOH) is a metabolic product of Alternaria, which has various toxic effects on humans and animals its pollution increasingly being discovered in fruits, vegetables, grains. At present, the detection AOH mainly achieved through high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry immunological methods. However, there currently lack fast methods for on-site use. Considering unique advantages testing methods, this study developed an immunolateral chromatographic quantitative method detecting using quantum dot fluorescent nanospheres (QDFNs) as signal amplification materials.
