AIM: To investigate the progression of myopia and risk factors among university students in central China. METHODS: A total 7359 first-year undergraduate at Huazhong University Science Technology China were recruited to study invited a centralized clinic for medical examination, including optometry, re-examined after one year. Correlation analyses performed assess associations between one-year various parameters. RESULTS: The spherical equivalent refraction overall population was -3.14±2.28 D baseline. rate over 0.50 year 41.9%, 1-year -0.47±0.58 D. There no difference mean male female or age group. original severer than new-onset myopia. also different degrees under corrected eyes had higher percentage well (χ2=7.90, P<0.01). correlation height, weight, body mass index, hemoglobin (Spearman correlation, ρ=-0.078, -0.152, -0.170, -0.096, respectively, all P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Myopes still progress students, especially high myopes.

Purpose: To determine the role of calcipotriol, a vitamin D3 analogue, in myopia development and altering expression scleral α1 chain type I collagen (Col1α1) mice. We also aimed to identify if signaling pathway mediating above changes is different from one involved transforming growth factor β2 (TGF-β2)–mediated increases COL1A1 cultured human fibroblasts (HSFs). Methods: C57BL/6J mice were either intraperitoneally injected with calcipotriol subjected form deprivation (FD) or exposed normal refractive for 4 weeks. Scleral D receptor (Vdr) was knocked down using Sub-Tenon's capsule injection an adeno-associated virus–packaged short hairpin RNA (AAV8-shRNA). Refraction biometric measurements evaluated development. A combination knockdown induction strategies determined relative contributions TGF-β2 pathways modulating HSFs. Results: Calcipotriol injections suppressed FD-induced (FDM), but it had no significant effect on AAV8-shRNA reduced Vdr mRNA by 42% shifted refraction toward (−3.15 ± 0.99D, means SEM) eyes. In HSFs, VDR calcipotriol-induced rises expression, did not alter TGF-β2–induced expression. Additionally, augmented TGF-β (TGFBRI/II) blunted whereas levels unaltered. Conclusions: inhibits mice, potentially activating VDR-dependent increasing levels.

Background Spinal cord injury (SCI) triggers motor, sensory, and autonomic impairments that adversely damage patients' quality of life. Its pathophysiological processes include inflammation, oxidative stress, apoptosis, although existing treatment options have little success. Macrophages a vital function in controlling inflammation SCI, with their M1-type M2-type macrophages dominating early inflammatory effects late brain tissue repair regeneration, respectively. However, there is dearth rigorous bibliometric study this sector to explore its dynamics trends. This intends examine the current status trends macrophage usage SCI using methodologies, which may drive novel therapeutic options. Methods In study, Web Science Core Collection (WOSCC) was utilized collect publications reviews on from 2002 2023. Bibliometrics visualization analyses were performed by VOSviewer, CiteSpace, R package “bibliometrix”, online analytic platforms. These covered variety aspects, including countries institutions, authors co-cited authors, journals journals, subject categories, references, keyword co-occurrences, order provide insights into research hotspots field. This study aimed to investigate impact of mental induced by arithmetic (MA) on choroidal thickness (CT). Methods: included 33 participants aged 19 29 years. Swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) was used capture images posterior segment left baseline MA assess changes in CT. After denoising compensation, had been rigidly registered resampled were segmented using a deep learning-based method. Based segmentation results, CT within regions 1 mm 3 diameter centered at lowest point fovea calculated. Results: Significant increases observed both CT1mm CT3mm MA, with mean 2.742 ± 7.098 μm (p = 0.034) 3.326 6.143 < 0.001), respectively. Conclusions: Thickening choroid has acute stress. We speculate long-term or chronic could potential adverse myopia progression.
