Smart self-healing coatings offer a revolutionary approach to mitigating metal corrosion, problem with significant economic and environmental impacts. Divided into intrinsic extrinsic types, these autonomously rectify the damage. Intrinsic variants utilize reversible bonds achieve ongoing repair, while ones incorporate micro/nanocontainers that activate upon triggers mend micro-cracks, their efficacy dictated by encapsulated healing agents’ volume. This review dissects rapidly evolving sector of stimuli-responsive coatings, emphasizing progress in micro/nano container technology. It discusses synthesis encapsulation processes different charts transition from single multistimulus-responsive systems, which enhances coatings’ sensitivity functionality. The addition multifunctional traits such as self-reporting anti-microbial actions further broadens industrial applicability. provides succinct overview field’s current state future potential, envisioning paradigm shift corrosion protection through advanced smart coatings.

Abstract Food contact materials should not release their constituent substances into food at levels harmful to human health nor change the composition, taste, or odor unacceptably. The historical evolution of packaging shows that use plastics has increased dramatically, because its convenience, lightweight, and cost effectiveness, but carries a significant environmental impact. Influenced by trends such as growing awareness footprint stricter safety requirements, conventional is now progressively evolving toward new alternatives. All stakeholders in agrifood system are involved journey transform more sustainable alternatives, while maintaining important functionalities suitable packaging. current most promising alternatives presented this review with benefits, limitations, associated potential hazards, focus on chemical hazards. The emulsification of natural pigment is a widely utilized strategy to enhance its stability in the food industry. However, high turbidity emulsions often causes color fading, limiting their application. Here, we developed comprehensive Pickering emulsion (PE) system improve intensity and turmeric oleoresin (Tur) under various processing conditions. Specifically, effects two encapsulation positions within PE were compared: inner oil phase (Tur-IPE) outer solid particle layer (Tur-OPE). Lysozyme carboxymethyl cellulose nanoparticles (NPs) used as surfactants, with successful formation confirmed through physical property analysis FTIR spectroscopy. optimal fraction (φ) for suitable properties was determined be 0.2. Interestingly, Tur-OPE significantly exceeded Tur-conventional (Tur-CE) Tur-IPE terms vividness, exhibiting higher redness lower lightness (p < 0.05). During thermal at 70 90 °C, all demonstrated enhanced heat resistance, retaining 1.3 1.6 times more Tur, respectively, compared unencapsulated Tur (free Tur) Furthermore, Tur’s pH instability overcome by systems 4 weeks storage period, highest retention rates, half-life increasing following order: free Tur-CE Tur-OPE. Thus, highlighted important role position PEs improving maintaining vividness pigments
