The use of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) in the biomedical field deserves a mindful analysis possible inflammatory response which could limit their clinic. Despite anti-cancer properties Ag NPs having been widely demonstrated, there are still few studies concerning involvement activation specific pathways. outcome depends on synthetic route used production, toxic reagents employed. In this work, we compared two types NPs, obtained by different chemical routes: conventional synthesis using sodium citrate and green protocol based leaf extracts as source reduction capping agents. A careful physicochemical characterization was carried out showing spherical stable with an average size between 20 nm 35 for respectively. Then, evaluated ability to induce inflammation Human Leukemic Monocytes (THP-1) differentiated into M0 macrophages 1 µM 2 concentrations (corresponded 0.1 µg/mL 0.2 respectively) two-time points (24 h 48 h). Our results showed clear difference Nuclear Factor κB (NF-κb) activation, Interleukins 6-8 (IL-6, IL-8) secretion, Tumor Necrosis Factor-α (TNF-α) Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression exerted kinds NPs. Green were definitely tolerated induced all factors mentioned above. Subsequently, exposure breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) that they exhibited antitumor activity like ones, but surprisingly, MCF-10A (not tumoral cells) did not cause significant decrease viability.

Denture stomatitis is a common manifestation of oral candidiasis affecting some 65% denture wearers. This condition initiated by the adherence Candida albicans to base acrylic resin. The present study aimed test in vitro effect traditional and novel fabrication methods on adhesion samples. based discs were fabricated using: (i) computerized milling, (ii) 3D printing, (iii) heat curing, (iv) cold curing. Discs tested for surface roughness (Ra), hydrophobicity (contact angle), mucin adsorption (Bradford assay), adhesion. printing significantly increased microbial cell as compared with milling decreased it. These results associated levels rather than roughness. Results suggest that may increase risk developing stomatitis, whereas decrease it curing fabrication.

Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), a well-known polymer of the family, is extensively used in biomedicine, particularly odontological applications including artificial teeth, dentures and denture bases, obturators, provisional or permanent crowns, so forth. The exceptional PMMA properties, aesthetics, inexpensiveness, simple manipulation, low density, adjustable mechanical make it perfect candidate field dentistry. However, presents some deficiencies, weakness regarding hydrolytic degradation, poor fracture toughness, lack antibacterial activity. To further enhance its properties solve these drawbacks, different approaches can be performed, incorporation nanofillers. In this regard, types metallic nanoparticles, metal oxide nanofillers, carbon-based nanomaterials have been recently integrated into matrices with aim to reduce water absorption improve their performance, namely thermal flexural properties. review, recent studies development PMMA-based nanocomposites for odontology are summarized future perspectives highlighted.

This resulted complete transformation However, antibiotic resistance masked significance such breakthroughs. Antifungal infection with nanoparticles been shown to be effective. As result their unique characteristics, substances, contrast antibiotics purest form, are able exhibit an increased anti-proliferative capacity while requiring lower concentration than traditional drugs do order achieve same effect. Decreased drug effectiveness, minimal tissue penetration throughout tissue, restricted penetration, decreased bioavailability, poor pharmacokinetics, and low water solubility some major factors contributing employment medicines delivery systems. Because this, one primary goals incorporating into varying sorts is reduce negative effects drugs’ inherent qualities. article provides overview many types nanoparticles, as metal, metal oxide, non-metal oxide carbon-based nanostructured lipid carriers, polymeric solid nanofibers, peptides, composites, ZnO quantum dots, that can used systems, well benefits nanomaterials have purified medications.

One of the most common oral diseases affecting people wearing dentures is chronic atrophic candidiasis or denture stomatitis (DS). The aim paper to provide an update on pathogenesis, presentation, and management DS in general dental practice settings. A comprehensive review literature published last ten years was undertaken using multiple databases, including PubMed via MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus. eligible articles were analyzed identify evidence-based strategies for DS. Despite its multifactorial nature, leading cause development Candida albicans biofilm, which facilitated by poor hygiene, long-term wear, ill-fitting dentures, porosity acrylic resin dentures. affects between 17 75% population with a slight predominance elderly females. mucosal surfaces posterior tongue are sites DS, affected areas exhibit erythema, swelling palatal mucosa edema. Oral hygiene protocols, adjusting re-fabricating poorly adapting smoking cessation, avoiding nocturnal administration topical systemic antifungals mainstay management. Alternate treatments such as microwave disinfection, phytomedicine, photodynamic therapy, incorporation nanoparticles into resins being evaluated treatment but require further evidence before routine use clinical practice. In summary, inflammatory lesion experienced wearers. Most patients can be managed Effective practitioners may supported thorough understanding recognition awareness contemporary strategies.
