Abstract Background Mycetoma is a chronic granulomatous disease affecting the skin, subcutaneous tissues, and bones, particularly in tropical subtropical regions. Sudan, especially its Eastern Sinnar locality, experiences significant burden due to environmental conditions limited access healthcare, while population's lack of awareness understanding often leads delays diagnosis treatment. Methods We conducted descriptive cross-sectional, community-based study Sinnar, investigate prevalence, risk factors, mycetoma among local residents. Using Cochran's formula, we calculated required sample size 400 participants from total population 245 201. Then, randomly selected these five villages chosen through stratified sampling. Data were collected via validated questionnaire assessing sociodemographic characteristics mycetoma-related information, review medical records confirm infection types interviews with Directorate Centre Sinnar. used χ2 tests for associations our analysis, P-values ≤0.05 indicating statistical significance. Results The prevalence was 5.4%, males comprising 76.4% infected cases. However, difference rates between genders not statistically (P = 0.248). While higher certain occupational groups, such as farmers shepherds, association occupation non-significant 0.107). also found no educational level 0.104) or age 0.514), but did detect family history < 0.001), animal ownership 0.004), wearing shoes during work 0.05). Awareness relatively high, 78.3% respondents acknowledging disease, though knowledge gaps remained, regarding transmission, only 36.1% believing it be transmissible. Conclusions highlights need targeted health education programmes, emphasising protective footwear safe animal-handling practices. These findings are crucial informing public strategies aimed at reducing endemic regions

Background and Clinical Significance: Since the prevalence of fungal lung infections is increasing, certain agents, such as Cladosporium spp., have emerged unexpected causes. spp. fungi are ubiquitous in environments soil, fruits, wine corks; they a part normal human skin flora; known respiratory allergens. Case Presentation: A patient with history post-COVID-19 syndrome AIDS presented pathology indicative an invasive infection. The initial histopathological examination revealed numerous yeast-like cells narrow-based budding, which led to mistaken diagnosis cryptococcosis. However, further detailed sparse hyphae tissue, suggesting more complex Molecular analyses sequence BLAST alignment were performed, ultimately identifying infectious agent “Cladosporium species novum”, rare cause pulmonary cladosporiasis. Conclusions: Invasive cladosporiasis condition, morphological features fungus alone insufficient establish correct diagnosis. comprehensive pathohistological molecular approach bioinformatics tools essential for identification potentially life-threatening pathogens immunocompromised patients.

Cordyceps militaris is a medicinal mushroom widely utilized in traditional East Asian medicine, recognized for its diverse therapeutic properties. This review explores the potential of C. militaris-derived bioactive gels applications dermatology and skincare, with particular focus on their anti-aging benefits. In response to rising incidence skin cancers growing demand natural ingredients, has emerged as valuable source functional compounds, including cordycepin, polysaccharides, adenosine. These compounds exhibit multiple bioactivities, apoptosis induction, cell cycle arrest, anti-inflammatory effects, which have been shown be particularly effective against melanoma other cancers. Additionally, antioxidant properties enhance resilience by scavenging reactive oxygen species, reducing oxidative stress, promoting collagen synthesis, thereby addressing health requirements. The incorporating into gel-based formulations skincare also examined, either standalone bioactives or combination synergistic ingredients. Emphasis placed necessity clinical trials standardization establish safety, efficacy, reproducibility such applications. By providing safer alternative synthetic agents, represent promising advancement skincare.

This study aimed to characterize the diversity of fungi in indoor air houses Havana examine their relationship environmental factors. Indoor samples were collected from 42 using sedimentation method Petri dishes malt yeast extract agar 50% sucrose filter paper. Both fungal groups successfully isolated 41 sampled houses. In majority rooms, concentrations recorded below threshold indicative contamination. The presence these was mainly related humidity ventilation problems substrates present rooms. Aspergillus found be predominant genus culture methods evaluated at both 28 37 °C. These findings enhance our understanding properties that inhabit environments serve as a warning system presence.

Allergic rhinitis (AR) and asthma (AS) are two of the most common chronic respiratory diseases a major public health concern. Multiple studies have demonstrated role nasal bacteriome in AR AS, but little is known about airway mycobiome its potential association to inflammatory diseases. Here we used internal transcriber spacers (ITS) 1 2 high-throughput sequencing characterize 339 individuals with AR, (ARAS), AS healthy controls (CT). Seven ten 14 abundant fungal genera ( Malassezia, Alternaria, Cladosporium, Penicillium, Wallemia, Rhodotorula, Sporobolomyces, Naganishia, Vishniacozyma , nd Filobasidium ) cavity differed significantly p ≤ 0.049) between or ARAS, CT. However, none same varied three disease groups. The mycobiomes ARAS patients showed highest intra-group diversity, while CT lowest.
