Thousands tons of discards blue whiting (BW) and tuna heads (YT) by-products are generated each year in Europe. BW is the species most discarded by European fishing fleet and, some canning factories, YT processed for retrieval oil rich omega-3, but producing a huge amount solid remains effluents disposal as wastes. The development optimal sustainable processes both substrates mandatory order to reach clean solutions under circular economy precepts. This work focused on mathematical optimization production tailored fish protein hydrolysates (FPH), from residues, terms controlling average molecular weights (Mw) proteins. For modeling depolymerization time-course, pseudo-mechanistic model was used, which combined reaction mechanistic equation affected, kinetic parameters, two non-lineal equations (a first-order like-Weibull formulae). In all situations, experimental data were accurately simulated that achieving R2 values higher than 0.96. validity conditions obtained confirmed performing productions FPH at scale 5 L-reactor, without pH-control cases, different ranges Mw selected (1–2 kDa, 2–5 kDa 5–10 kDa). results showed with lower led remarkable yield (12 % w/w substrate), largest contents (77 hydrolysate), greatest vitro digestibility (>95 %), highest essential amino acid presence (43 %) best antioxidant (DPPH = 62 antihypertensive (IC50-ACE 80 mg/L) properties. Our prove proposed procedure produce FPH, specific characterisitics, could be extended other waste substrates. Tailored may have potential serve valuable ingredients functional foods high-quality aquaculture feed.

Flavonoids, stilbenes, lignans, and phenolic acids, classes of polyphenols found in grape pomace (GP), were investigated as an important alternative source for active substances that could be used the management oxidative stress inflammation. The benefic antioxidant anti-inflammatory actions GP are presented literature, but they derived from a large variety experimental vitro vivo settings. In these works, decrease reactive oxygen species, malondialdehyde, thiobarbituric acid levels increase glutathione show effects. inhibition nuclear factor kappa B prostaglandin E2 inflammatory pathways some markers such interleukin-8 (IL-8) demonstrate polyphenols. studies further confirmed (increase catalase, superoxide dismutase peroxidase stimulation endothelial nitric oxide synthase -eNOS gene expression) (inhibition IL-1𝛼, IL-1β, IL-6, interferon-𝛾, TNF-α C-reactive protein release) activities. Grape whole extract, also different individual contained can modulate endogenous pathway responsible reducing chronic present review analyzed effects inflammation, suggesting it become valuable therapeutic candidate capable to reduce aforementioned pathological processes. extract adjuvant treatment attempt side classical medication like non-steroidal drugs (NSAIDs).

There are multiple associations between the different blood groups (ABO and RhD) incidence of oxidative stress-related diseases, such as certain carcinomas COVID-19. Bioactive compounds represent an alternative to its prevention treatment. Phycobiliproteins (PBP) bioactive present in microalga Porphyridium cruentum and, despite antioxidant activity, their inhibitory effect on hemolysis has not been reported. The aim this work was evaluate erythroprotective potential phycobiliproteins from P. groups. cultured F/2 medium under controlled laboratory conditions. Day 10 culture determined harvest point. microalgal biomass lyophilized a methanolic (MetOH), Tris HCl (T-HCl), physiological solution (PS) ultrasound-assisted extraction were performed. Extract pigments quantified by spectrophotometry. activity extracts evaluated with ABTS+•, DPPH•, FRAP methods, finding that main mechanism aqueous HAT (hydrogen atom transfer), while for MetOH it SET (single electron transfer). results AAPH, hypotonicity, heat-induced revealed probable relationship antigens antihemolytic effect, highlighting importance bio-directed drugs.

Molecular imprinting is an efficient strategy to make the detection of compounds more specific and selective. This targeted analytical using molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) synthesis needs obtain optimized conditions. A selective was prepared for caffeic acid (CA) after varying following parameters: functional monomer type (N-phenylacrylamide, N-PAA or methacrylic acid, MAA), solvent (acetonitrile/methanol acetonitrile/toluene), polymerization method (UV thermal initiation). The optimal obtained MAA as a monomer, acetonitrile/methanol solvent, UV polymerization. Morphological characterizations were done CA-MIP mid-infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, nitrogen adsorption. showed good specificity selectivity in presence interferents (antioxidants having chemical structure close CA) hydroalcoholic solution. electrochemical CA performed by cyclic voltammetry (CV) interaction between MIP wine sample. linear range developed 0 1.11 mM, limit (LOD) 0.13 quantification (LOQ) 0.32 mM. The recognition of the necessity for employing natural additives in animal feed has grown alongside ban on antibiotics sector. Grapes, as well by-products wine-making industry (grape marc and seed extracts), possess biologically active chemical constituents that can be used to improve production by incorporating them into feed. Grapes are a valuable resource polyphenols, especially flavonoids, stilbenes phenolic acids, most showing therapeutic or health-promoting properties. purpose this review is elucidate impact polyphenols gut health. first section discusses structure major grapes polyphenols’ bioavailability metabolism pigs. second part reviews results investigations antioxidant, antimicrobial prebiotic effects grape pig diets, their regulation intestinal barrier functions through signalling pathways responses. All supported previous research, findings conclusions. There fewer recorded studies, but inclusion up 9% resulted improved performance with an increased mean daily gain. Ultimately, analysis concluded supplementation pigs compounds enhanced antioxidant capacity, humoral cellular immune responses, promoted ecosystem biodiversity overall

Previous observational studies have suggested that antioxidant imbalance is correlated with neurodegenerative diseases, while its cause-effect remains unclear. Thus, the goal of present study to explore causal relationship between 11 biomarkers and 3 most common diseases [Alzheimer's disease (AD), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Parkinson's (PD)].A bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) was performed investigate effects by using main methods (Variance Weighted (IVW), Median (WM), MR-Egger regression) in European population. The data were obtained from open database up-to-date Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), summary statistics PD ALS International Disease Genomics Consortium (IPDGC) (33,674 cases, 449,056 controls), (IALSC) (20,806 cases 59,804 respectively.
