Phycocyanin is a pigment–protein complex from the group of phycobiliproteins obtained Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis), with possibilities for various applications in food and pharmaceutical technologies. It natural colorant cosmetic products. This study aimed to investigate effect ultrasonic microwave extraction conditions on antioxidant activity (AOA), chlorophyll content, content purity index phycocyanin aqueous alcoholic extracts platensis). For this purpose, water or ethanol was performed at 20 °C, 30 40 °C 1, 2, 3 h an frequency 36 kHz, 45 kHz. Microwave 60 s, 120 180 s. each samples, three parallel measurements were made by DPPH FRAP methods, yield determined spectrophotometrically. Ultrasonic resulted higher compared extraction. The highest 14.88 mg g−1 1.60 achieved temperature one hour wave A relatively low 4.21 g−1, but 2.67, time two hours, Chlorophyll b hours kHz 1.400 g−1. proposes as green method obtain varying that may be used food, cosmetic, biomedical purposes.

The study of synergistic and antagonistic antioxidant interactions is particularly important for pharmaceutical food industries. application methods like 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay highly suited the quantification activity single compounds or plant extracts foods. However, studying interactions, these assays can become laborious time-consuming, since each pair combinations demands preparation several binary mixtures endowed with different combining concentrations. Consequently, generate large amounts data that need to be mathematically statistically treated specific commercial software. In our work, we propose a novel strategy shorten simultaneously number steps related treatment in interactions. To achieve this goal, were prepared using an adapted version checkerboard (two-dimensional microdilution) quantified, analyzed, presented free-web (SynergyFinder Plus). Particularly, studied interaction trehalose ascorbic acid, catechin, gallic quercetin. Our results show presents significant combination all four compounds. conclusion, first time SynergyFinder Plus has been used Hence, straightforward, efficient, accessible method was developed assess mixtures.

This study investigates the extraction, identification, and assessment of antioxidant antihypertensive potential soluble bound phenolics from moth bean. The yields were quantified as 0.15 ± 0.03 mg GAE/g 0.28 0.04 GAE/g, respectively. Overall, 9 major 15 identified crude fractions. Soluble exhibited higher (EC50: DPPH: 17.25 0.77; ABTS: 20.13 0.25; FRAP: 3.3 μg/mL) well a superior angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) along with renin (IC50: 0.38; 2.3 μg/mL, respectively) inhibitory activity compared to phenolics. Notably, kaempferol displayed highest ACE inhibition via interacting key amino acids active site (His 387 Glu 411) Zn ion ACE, while gentisic acid by S1 pocket (Asp 32, Ser 76) renin. These findings highlight their therapeutic relevance in hypertension oxidative stress management.

Minimizing the oxidation of lipids remains one most important challenges to extend shelf-life food products and reduce waste. While consumer contain antioxidants, efficient strategy is incorporate combinations two or more compounds, boosting total antioxidant capacity. Unfortunately, reasons for observing synergistic / antagonistic additive effects in samples are still unclear, it common observe very different responses even similar mixtures. Aiming identify chemical features that can be correlated with specific responses, this report presents an analysis 1243 mixtures antioxidants reported literature. The focuses on commonly compounds considers how various descriptors (number atoms, number heavy heteroatoms, carbon oxygen nitrogen chloride polar surface area, molecular weight, aromatic rings, logP, hydrogen bond counts) affect response. Out those, our showed bonding plays role determining interact, potentially affecting overall behavior Far from drawing a universal conclusion about particular mechanism; article provides overview what has worked so far, delving into possible variables behind those interactions.
