Abstract Objectives In recent years, there has been phenomenal growth in internet usage worldwide, with a substantial proportion of children and adolescents actively engaging online platforms. While the presents numerous opportunities for adolescents, lack digital literacy adequate safety measures exposes them to various cybercrimes, including cyberbullying, cyberstalking, identity theft, sexual predation. Moreover, is growing concern regarding addiction among this population. Methods To investigate determinants we conducted cross-sectional study peri-urban Delhi-NCR, India. We used self-administered questionnaire gather information on usage, 630 aged 13–18 participated study, also completing an Internet Addiction Test. Results The findings indicate that 415 (65.9 %) exhibited no signs addiction, suggesting healthy relationship internet. However, 215 (33.1 displayed symptoms addiction.
