Abstract Diaporthe is an important plant pathogenic genus, which also occurs as endophytes and saprobes. Many species that are morphologically similar proved to be genetically distinct. The current understanding of taxonomy by applying morphological characters, host associations multi-gene phylogeny problematic leading overestimation/underestimation numbers this significant fungal genus. Currently, there no definite boundaries for the accepted species. Hence, present study aims re-structure genus , based on single gene phylogenies (ITS, tef tub cal his ), justified GCPSR (Genealogical Concordance Phylogenetic Species Recognition) methodology well coalescence-based models (PTP—Poisson Tree Processes mPTP—multi-rate Poisson Processes). Considering all available type isolates divided into seven sections while 13 15 species-complexes proposed. To support re-assessment 82 obtained from woody hosts in Guizhou Province China were investigated revealed presence two novel 17 previously known Synonymies specified 31 molecular data studies. Dividing several specific phylogenetic analyses can avoid construction lengthy trees entire future taxonomic In other words, when one conducts research related only appropriate section need selected analysis.

Whilst conducting surveys of lignicolous microfungi in Yunnan Province, we collected a large number taxa that resemble Montagnula (Didymosphaeriaceae, Pleosporales). Our phylogenetic study on involved analysing sequence data from ribosomal RNA genes (nc18S, nc28S, ITS) and protein-coding ( rpb 2, tef 1-α). During our investigation of saprobic fungi in southwestern China, three micro-hyphomycetous were isolated from dead wood freshwater and terrestrial habitats Guizhou Province. Phylogenetic analyses ITS, LSU, SSU sequences, performed using Maximum Likelihood Bayesian Inference methods, confirmed that these isolates belong to Kirschsteiniothelia . Based on distinct morphological characteristics molecular phylogenetic evidence, we describe new species: guizhouensis , K. weiningensis xishuiensis Furthermore, the effectiveness DNA markers for species-level identification within was evaluated Assemble Species by Automatic Partitioning (ASAP) analysis, which identified ITS nucleotide sequences as most reliable marker species differentiation genus.

Although certain hypersaline endorheic lagoons in Spain have been investigated to evaluate the composition, spatial structure, and ecological roles of their macro- microbiota, fungi inhabiting these niches remain largely unexplored. In this study, we isolated several microfungi from Salada Grande de Chiprana La Playa lagoons, located Saladas (Directed Natural Reserve Ramsar Wetland) Sástago-Bujaraloz (Ramsar Wetland), respectively. As a result morphological characterization phylogenetic analysis using four informative molecular markers, report discovery two new species genus Montagnula (M.), M. globospora terricola, as well one Monosporascus (Mo.), Mo. auratispora. globospora, sediment sample lagoon, is only producing unicellular, globose ascospores inside cleistothecial ascomata with cephalothecoid peridium. terricola was originally soil Malawi (ex-type strain). However, also identified another strain collected at lagoon. The remarkable features are production non-cephalothecoid bicellular, bi-cupulate ascospores. Regarding auratispora, it sediments characterized by golden-brown that do not turn black age. Also, due results our analysis, transferred Herpotrichia striatispora Montagnula, striatispora, Montangula jonessi Neomontagnula (N.), N. jonessi.
