Olive oil (OO) is the main source of added fat in Mediterranean diet (MD). It a mix bioactive compounds, including monounsaturated fatty acids, phytosterols, simple phenols, secoiridoids, flavonoids, and terpenoids. There growing body evidence that MD OO improve obesity-related factors. In addition, obesity has been associated with an increased risk for several cancers: endometrial, oesophageal adenocarcinoma, renal, pancreatic, hepatocellular, gastric cardia, meningioma, multiple myeloma, colorectal, postmenopausal breast, ovarian, gallbladder, thyroid cancer. However, epidemiological linking these cancers, their potential mechanisms action, especially those involving gut microbiota, are not clearly described or understood. The goals this review 1) to update current knowledge on associations between consumption 2) identify microbiota involved 3) report effects mechanisms.

Abstract The Mediterranean diet (MedDiet), one of the most studied and well‐known dietary patterns worldwide, has been associated with a wide range benefits for health. In present narrative review, we aimed to provide comprehensive overview current knowledge on relation MedDiet important health outcomes, considering both observational intervention studies risk factors clinical diseases as outcomes. addition, considered public impacts human planetary Earlier research confirmed by recent provided strong evidence cardiovascular health, including reduction in incidence outcomes well obesity, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, dyslipidaemia. There is also that lower rates incident diabetes, better glycaemic control diabetic patients compared diets. prospective studies, adherence reduced mortality, especially hence increased longevity. it less age‐related cognitive dysfunction neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Alzheimer’s disease. Furthermore, relatively low environmental (water, nitrogen carbon footprint) an additional positive aspect model. It likely combination healthy social behaviours way life regions makes sustainable lifestyle model could be followed other country‐specific culturally appropriate variations.

The average life expectancy of the world population has increased remarkably in past 150 years and it is still increasing. A long a dream humans since beginning time but also to live good physical mental condition. Nutrition research focused on recent decades more food combination patterns than individual foods/nutrients due possible synergistic/antagonistic effects components dietary model. Various have been associated with health benefits, largest body evidence literature attributable traditional habits lifestyle followed by populations from Mediterranean region. After Seven Countries Study, many prospective observational studies trials diverse reinforced beneficial higher adherence diet reference prevention/management age-associated non-communicable diseases, such as cardiovascular metabolic neurodegenerative cancer, depression, respiratory fragility fractures. In addition, ecologically sustainable. Therefore, this immaterial heritage constitutes healthy way eating living respecting environment.

The European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) is a multicentre prospective study conducted in 23 centres 10 countries. Here we review the findings from EPIC on relationship between diet-related exposures incidence or mortality four most frequent cancers population: colorectal, breast, lung, prostate cancer. We systematic following PRISMA guidelines identified 110 high-quality studies based cohort. Fruit vegetable consumption had protective effect against lung cancer, whereas only fruit A higher of fish lower red processed meat were related with risk colorectal cancer; fatty breast Calcium yogurt intake found to protect Alcohol increased for Finally, adherence Mediterranean diet emerged as factor results are agreement latest evidence leading authorities cancer prevention help inform public policies strategies.

The study provide an overview MD adherence general adult population countries. Methods A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA 2020 (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review Meta-Analysis) guidelines registered Prospero database (CRD42020189337). Literature searched PubMed, Web Science PsycINFO databases studies published 2010 up including 2021. inclusion criteria were used: age 18 years older, sample size > 1000 participants, using a validated score. Studies that only included participants with nutrition-related or other severe chronic disorders, as well specific subpopulations (e.g., pregnant women), excluded order focus on population. quality analysis done NCCMT scale. Results total 50 included. number ranged between 1013 94,113. Most pertained European fewer Middle Eastern North African vast majority reported low moderate adherence, both based mean category often being most prevalent. There no clear differences noted sex groups. assessment generally showed weak scores. Conclusions populations have been showing past 10 years, indicating room improving its origin.

Abstract Objectives: The metabolic dysfunction driven by obesity, including hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia, increases risk for developing at least 13 cancer types. concept of “metabolic dysfunction” is often defined meeting various combinations criteria syndrome. However, the lack a unified definition makes it difficult to compare findings across studies. This review summarizes 129 studies that evaluated variable definitions in relation obesity‐related mortality after diagnosis. Strategies management are also discussed. Methods A comprehensive search relevant publications MEDLINE (PubMed) Google Scholar with references was conducted. Results Metabolic dysfunction, as syndrome diagnosis or any number out clinical range, inflammatory biomarkers, markers organ function, has been associated for, from, colorectal, pancreatic, postmenopausal breast, bladder cancers. associations breast colorectal have observed independently BMI, increased individuals metabolically unhealthy normal weight overweight/obesity compared healthy weight. Conclusion key factor cancer, regardless obesity status. Nonetheless, harmonized will further clarify magnitude relationship types, enable better comparisons studies, guide stratification.

A number of factors contribute to the complex process aging, which finally define whether someone will or not develop age-associated chronic diseases in late life. These determinants comprise genetic susceptibility as well various behavioral, environmental, and dietary factors, all have been shown influence specific pathways regulating aging extension life, makes longevity a multidimensional phenomenon. Although "miraculous elixir" "nutrition pill" are plausible, researchers agree on notion that nutritional major impact risk non-communicable mortality. In recent years nutrition research relation health outcomes has considerably changed from focusing exclusively single nutrients considering combinations foods rather than isolation. is scientifically valid providing crucial evidence mechanisms by impacts health, switch targeting multifaceted synergistic interplay among nutrients, other constituents, whole foods, promoted emerging interest actions total patterns. This narrative review aims describe some patterns with associations reduction incidence allowing older adults live long-lasting healthier confirming powerful can exert healthy aging.

Cancer has become a serious problem worldwide, as it represents the main cause of death, and its incidence increased over years. A potential strategy to counter growing spread various forms cancer is adoption prevention strategies, in particular, use healthy lifestyles, such maintaining weight, following diet; being physically active; avoiding smoking, alcohol consumption, sun exposure; vitamin D supplementation. These modifiable risk factors are associated with this disease, contributing development, progression, severity. This review evaluates relationship between potentially overall specifically breast, colorectal, prostate cancer, highlights updated recommendations on prevention. The results numerous clinical epidemiological studies clearly show influence lifestyles development cancer. An incorrect diet, composed mainly saturated fats processed products, resulting body combined physical inactivity, induced an increase all three types under study. Given importance adopting correct prevent global institutions should develop strategies environments that encourage individuals adopt regular behaviors.
