Stingless bee propolis has emerged globally as a new source of bioactive molecules that can advance human health. However, limited research been conducted on Australian stingless propolis. This study investigated the chemical composition and biological activity produced by bees Tetragonula carbonaria from Gibberagee, distinct region New South Wales state in Australia. Using bioassay-guided fractionation, twelve compounds were isolated, including six A-ring methylated flavonoids. Nine these demonstrated strong scavenging against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radicals, with five exhibiting greater potency than vitamin C. Chemical structures seven additional minor flavonoids determined through an intensive MS/MS data analysis. In silico screening 19 revealed all, except for gallic acid, displayed higher binding affinity to α-glucosidase antidiabetic drug, voglibose. showed Gibberagee is promising nutraceutical cosmeceutical applications owing its antioxidant properties. The unique profile C-methylated potentially provides valuable insights into botanical origin.

Abstract Background Flavonols are phytoconstituents of biological and medicinal importance. In addition to functioning as antioxidants, flavonols may play a role in antagonizing diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, viral bacterial diseases. Quercetin, myricetin, kaempferol, fisetin the major dietary flavonols. Quercetin is potent scavenger free radicals, providing protection from radical damage oxidation-associated Main body abstract An extensive literature review specific databases (e.g., Pubmed, google scholar, science direct) were conducted using keywords “flavonol,” “quercetin,” “antidiabetic,” “antiviral,” “anticancer,” “myricetin.” Some studies concluded that quercetin promising antioxidant agent while kaempferol could be effective against human gastric cancer. addition, prevents apoptosis pancreatic beta-cells via boosting function survival rate beta-cells, leading increased insulin secretion. also show potential alternatives conventional antibiotics, restricting infection by envelope proteins block entry. Short conclusion There substantial scientific evidence high consumption associated with reduced risk cancer coronary diseases, alleviation, tumor growth prevention, secretion improvement, among other diverse health benefits. Nevertheless, more required determine appropriate concentration, dose, type flavonol for particular condition prevent any adverse side effects.

Despite the quantities and diversity of chemical compounds such as flavonoids discovered in lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus DC.), available data are fragmentary. Their variation depending on type extract origin plant their effect biological activities not deeply discussed. Therefore, this paper provides a critical discussion bioactive including flavonoid content extracts Cymbopogon citratus, associated properties. Recorded showed that recent studies have addressed qualitatively quantitatively various C. citratus. Existing literature clarified significant chemicals used parts plants. However, effects climate change other environmental quantity quality yet available. On hand, recorded were with wide range pharmacological properties antioxidant, anti-inflammation, anti-microbial, anti-diabetic effects, which variable types flavonoids. Other anticancer, analgesic, diuretic investigated extracted from plant, thus more advanced needed to optimize extraction biomolecules counting flavonoids, then apply them most devastating diseases pathogens.

Aging populations worldwide are placing age-related diseases at the forefront of research agenda. The therapeutic potential natural substances, especially propolis and its components, has led to these products being promising agents for alleviating several cellular molecular-level changes associated with diseases. With this in mind, scientists have introduced a contextual framework guide future aging research, called hallmarks aging. This encompasses various mechanisms including genomic instability, epigenetic changes, mitochondrial dysfunction, inflammation, impaired nutrient sensing, altered intercellular communication. Propolis, rich array bioactive compounds, functions as potent functional food, modulating metabolism, gut microbiota, immune response, offering significant health benefits. Studies emphasize propolis' properties, such antitumor, cardioprotective, neuroprotective effects, well ability mitigate oxidative stress, DNA damage, pathogenic bacteria growth. article underscores current scientific evidence supporting role controlling molecular characteristics linked hallmarks, hypothesizing geroscience research. aim is discover novel strategies improve quality life older individuals, addressing existing deficits perspectives area.

Propolis is a resinous mixture produced by honeybees which has been used since ancient times for its useful properties. However, chemical composition and bioactivity may vary, depending on the geographical area of origin type tree bees use collecting pollen. In this context, research aimed to investigate total phenolic content (using Folin-Ciocalteu assay) antioxidant capacity FRAP, DPPH, ABTS assays) three black poplar (Populus nigra L.) propolis (BPP) solutions (S1, S2, S3), as well (HPLC-ESI-MSn) biological activities (effect cell viability, genotoxic/antigenotoxic properties, anti-inflammatory activity, effect ROS production) one showed highest activity (S1). The hydroalcoholic BPP solution S1 was prototype an innovative, research-type product Italian nutraceutical manufacturer. contrast, S2 S3 were conventional products purchased from local pharmacy stores. For extracts, 50 compounds, encompassing acids flavonoids, identified. summary, results interesting profile remarkable antioxidant, antigenotoxic, ROS-modulating innovative extract S1, paving way future research. vivo investigations will be possible line take, help corroborate hypothesis potential health benefits product, even stimulate further ameliorations new prototype.

Acute pancreatitis (APS) is a prevalent acute pancreatic inflammation, where oxidative stress, inflammatory signaling pathways, and apoptosis activation contribute to injury. Pinocembrin, the predominant flavonoid in propolis, was explored for its likely shielding effect against APS provoked by two intraperitoneal doses of L-arginine (250 mg / 100 g) rat model. Pinocembrin ameliorated histological immunohistochemical changes tissues lowered activities amylase lipase that were markedly elevated with administration. Moreover, pinocembrin reinstated oxidant/antioxidant equilibrium, which perturbed L-arginine, boosted levels nuclear factor erythroid 2-related 2 (Nrf2) heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1). reduced elevation serum C-reactive protein (CRP) level induced L-arginine. Additionally, it decreased expression high motility group box 1 (HMGB1), toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), kappa B (NF-κB), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), NOD-like (NLR) Family Pyrin Domain Containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome pancreas. Furthermore, also myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity. downregulated miR-34a-5p upregulated peroxisome proliferator-activated alpha (PPAR-α) Sirtuin (SIRT1) gene inhibitor NF-κB (IκB-α), along normalizing Bax/Bcl-2 ratio. notably improved L-arginine-induced antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic activities. exhibited protective role suppressing via TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 pathway enhancing cytoprotective miR-34a-5p/SIRT1/Nrf2/HO-1 pathway.
