There has always been a particular difficulty with in-depth research on the mechanisms of food nutrition and bioactivity. The main function is to meet nutritional needs human body, rather than exert therapeutic effect. Its relatively modest biological activity makes it difficult study from perspective general pharmacological models. With popularity functional foods concept dietary therapy, development information multi-omics technology in research, into these moving towards more microscopic future. Network pharmacology accumulated nearly 20 years experience traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), there no shortage work this medicinal functions food. Given similarity between 'multi-component-multi-target' properties TCM, we think that network applicable complex Here review pharmacology, summarize its application 'medicine homology', propose methodology based characteristics for first time, demonstrating feasibility research. © 2023 Society Chemical Industry.

The prevention and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is closely tied to anti-oxidation anti-inflammation. Phycocyanin (PC) have numerous pharmacological effects such as anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, so on. But it remains unclear whether PC can play a therapeutic role in COPD. As inflammation oxidative stress aggravate the COPD, this study explore effect on COPD mice its mechanisms. model was established by exposing lipopolysaccharide (LPS) cigarette smoke (CS), administrated concentration 50 mg/kg for 30 days. On last day, lung function measured, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) obtained classified cell. Lung tissues pathological change analyzed organ indices statistics were measured. Based molecular docking mechanism explored with Western blotting, immunohistochemical immunofluorescence vivo vitro. significantly ameliorated reduced (p<0.05), Hematoxylin eosin (H&E) showed depressed inflammatory cell accumulation emphysema. Periodic acid Schiff (PAS) Masson staining revealed that retarded goblet cells metaplasia collagen deposition (p<0.05). In addition, regulated Heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) (p<0.05) NAD(P)H dehydrogenase quinone (NQO1) level (p<0.01) lung, well NOX2 macrophages. Molecular results indicate phycocyanobilin (PCB) had good binding site Keap1 proteins, phycocyanobilin-bound phycocyanin peptide (PCB-PC-peptide) further studies. vitro PCB-PC-peptide could depress phospho-NF-E2-related factor 2 (p-Nrf2) NQO1 protein expression RAW264.7 induced extract (CSE) exerts beneficial via anti-inflammatory anti-oxidative stress, which may be achieved through PCB.

A characteristic of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is the inflammation respiratory pathway. Inflammatory regulators affected in COPD include cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin (IL-1β), and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Therefore, this systematic review aimed to investigate biological activity Indonesian medicinal plants as anti-inflammation through vitro, silico, vivo studies. digital search was conducted using Scopus, Google Scholar, PubMed online databases find relevant articles by applying specific keywords related subject interest. The results showed 18 studies that reported five proven inhibit regulation. were sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata), legetan warak (Adenostemma lavenia), kersen (Muntingia calabura), babadotan (Ageratum conyzoides), sembung rambat (Mikania micrantha Kunth). In vitro studies, A. paniculata, lavenia, M. calabura can suppress levels pro-inflammatory cytokines, such TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. silico compounds have strong binding bind inflammatory receptors are andrographiside contained paniculata; ent-11α-hydroxy-15-oxo-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid lavenia; 7-Hydroxyflavone calabura; 22,23-Dihydrospinasterol conyzoides. extracts calabura, conyzoides, reduce lung tissue animal models (hamsters, mice, rats). This might help develop treatment build scientifically natural products from for future investigations.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common respiratory disorder in pulmonology. Chuanbeimu (CBM) traditional Chinese medicinal herb for treating COPD and has been widely utilized clinical practice. However, the mechanism of CBM treatment remains incompletely understood. This study aims to investigate underlying therapeutic using network pharmacology experimental approaches. Methods: Active ingredients their targets were obtained from Traditional Medicine Systems Pharmacology database. COPD-associated retrieved GeneCards The identified through Venn diagram analysis. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks disease-herb-ingredient-target constructed. Subsequently, results validated by molecular docking vitro experiments. Results: Seven active 32 potential as closely associated with COPD. PPI showed that peimisine emerged core ingredient, SRC, ADRB2, MMP2 , NOS3 Molecular analysis confirmed exhibited high binding affinity . In experiments demonstrated significantly upregulated expression ADRB2 downregulated SRC Conclusion: These findings indicate may modulate thereby exerting protective effect against Keywords: chuanbeimu, docking, pharmacology, experiment verification, chronic

Saussurea pulchella (SP) is a traditional medicinal plant that widely used in folk medicine because of its diverse biological activities, particularly anti-inflammatory effects. However, the alleviation effect SP on ulcerative colitis (UC) has not yet been realized. To investigate chemical composition and therapeutic extract against UC.First, qualitative quantitative analysis 75% ethanol was performed by UPLC-Q/TOF-MS. Second, dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) model UC mice developed to study effects symptoms, inflammatory factors, oxidative stress indexes colon histopathology. Third, an integration network pharmacology with metabolomics key metabolites, targets metabolisms closely related SP.From extract, 149 compounds were identified qualitatively 20 determined quantitatively. The could dose-dependently decrease DAI score, spleen coefficient levels TNF-α, IL-6, iNOS, MPO MDA; increase length, GSH level SOD activity; protect intestinal barrier mice. Moreover, 10 metabolite biomarkers,18 5 found play crucial roles treatment SP.SP effectively alleviate progression and, therefore, be classified as novel natural for UC.
