The human gastrointestinal system is a complex ecosystem crucial for well-being. During sepsis-induced gut injury, the integrity of intestinal barrier can be compromised. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS), an endotoxin from Gram-negative bacteria, disrupts barrier, contributing to inflammation and various dysfunctions. current study explores protective effects limonene, natural compound with diverse biological properties, against LPS-induced jejunal injury in mice. Oral administration limonene at dosages 100 200 mg/kg was used LPS mouse model. Murine Sepsis Score (MSS) utilized evaluate severity sepsis, while serum levels urea creatinine served as indicators renal function. Our results indicated that injection induced function deterioration, evidenced by elevated compared control However, pretreatment doses mitigated this decline function, reduced creatinine. Limonene demonstrated anti-inflammatory reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, COX-2), suppressing TLR4/NF-κB/AP-1 but not IRF3 signaling pathways, modulating oxidative stress through Nrf2 activation. suggest holds promise potential therapeutic agent mitigating preserving health.

This review explores the synergistic potential of natural products and nanotechnology for viral infections, highlighting key antiviral, immunomodulatory, antioxidant properties to combat pandemics caused by highly infectious viruses. These often result in severe public health crises, particularly affecting vulnerable populations due respiratory complications increased mortality rates. A cytokine storm is initiated when an overload pro-inflammatory cytokines chemokines released, leading a systemic inflammatory response. Viral mutations limited availability effective drugs, vaccines, therapies contribute continuous transmission virus. The coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic has sparked renewed interest product-derived antivirals. efficacy traditional medicines against infections examined. In this study, we aimed to explore the protective effects of Bifidobacterium in colitis mice and potential mechanisms. Results showed that breve (B. breve) effectively colonized intestinal tract alleviated symptoms by reducing disease activity index. Moreover, B. mitigated epithelial cell damage, inhibited pro-inflammatory factors, upregulated tight junction (TJ)-proteins. Gut microbiota metabolome analysis found boosted bile acid-regulating genera (such as Clostridium sensu stricto 1), which promoted acid deconjugation intestine. Notably, cholic (CA) was closely associated with expression levels inflammatory factors TJ-proteins (p < 0.05). Cyanobacteria are highly regarded for their nutritional value and the scientific community has shown great interest in studying biological activity bioactive compounds, especially pigments. They have a wide range of properties, making them potentially useful various health applications, including dermatology. Given growing demand natural products actives cosmetics medical sectors, these microorganisms emerged as valuable source. Therefore, this study investigated bioactivity phycoerythrin (PE) phycocyanin (PC) extracted from Nostoc sp.
