Abstract Major depressive disorder is a highly debilitating psychiatric involving the dysfunction of different cell types in brain. Microglia are predominant resident immune cells brain and exhibit critical role depression. Recent studies have suggested that depression can be regarded as microglial disease. regulate inflammation, synaptic plasticity, formation neural networks, all which affect In this review, we highlighted microglia pathology First, described activation animal models clinically depressed patients. Second, emphasized possible mechanisms by recognize depression-associated stress conditions. Third, how antidepressants (clinical medicines natural products) activation. Thus, review aimed to objectively analyze focus on potential antidepressants. These data regulation actions might novel therapeutic strategy counteract adverse effects devastating mental disorders.

Depressive disorders can affect up to 350 million people worldwide, and in developed countries, the percentage of patients with depressive may be as high 10%. During depression, activation pro-inflammatory pathways, mitochondrial dysfunction, increased markers oxidative stress, a reduction antioxidant effectiveness body are observed. It is estimated that approximately 30% depressed do not respond traditional pharmacological treatments. However, more attention being paid influence active ingredients food on course risk neurological disorders, including depression. The possibility using foods containing polyphenols an element diet therapy depression was analyzed review. whether consumption products such could alleviate or prevent progression it also considered. Results from preclinical studies demonstrate potential phenolic compounds have reduce behaviors by regulating factors related neuroinflammation, modulation intestinal microbiota.

Paeoniflorin is a water-soluble monoterpenoid glycoside that can be derived from multiple herbaceous plants, such as Radix Paeoniae Rubra, Alba, Paeonia suffruticosa and Cimicifugae Foetidae. Multiple studies have suggested possesses an excellent anti-tumor effect in variety of tumors, including liver cancer, gastric breast lung pancreatic colorectal cancer bladder cancer. It induce cell apoptosis, inhibit proliferation, invasion metastasis via different molecular mechanisms, which are mainly involved nuclear transcription factor kappα (NF-κB), B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2) family, MicroRNA, neural precursor expressed developmentally down-regulated protein 4(NEDD4) signaling pathway, activating (STAT3), p21, p53/14-3-3 transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)/Smads Mitogen-activated kinase (MAPK) pathway Notch-1. Current on mechanism action remain unclear. Therefore, this study reviews the research progress attempt to provide new thought theoretical basis for further development clinical application Paeoniflorin.

Inflammatory dermatosis is characterized by persistent inflammatory infiltration and hard repair of diseased skin. As a member the human innate immune cells, macrophages usually show different phenotypes in diseases. The macrophage phenotype (M1/M2) imbalance caused increase M1 or decrease M2 common dermatosis. In recent years, with deepening research on skin diseases, more natural medicines/traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs), represented Shikonin Angelica Dahurica, have shown their therapeutic effects affecting polarization macrophages. This review introduced dermatosis, such as psoriasis. Then summarized medicines/TCMs that potential so far mechanisms action proteins/signal pathways involved. We found TCMs listed this are closely related to theory five flavors four properties medicinal, most them bitter, acrid sweet. Bitter antipyretic, anti-inflammatory antibacterial effects, which may improve inflammation infiltration. Acrid effect promoting blood circulation, while sweet nourishing. These 2 accelerate lesions conclusion, we hope provide sufficient knowledge for medicine development imbalance.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a highly prevalent psychiatric disorder, whose pathophysiology has been linked to the neuroinflammatory process. The increased activity of Nod-like receptor pyrin containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome, an intracellular multiprotein complex, intrinsically implicated in neuroinflammation by promoting maturation and release proinflammatory cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-1β IL-18. Interestingly, individuals suffering from MDD have higher expression NLRP3 inflammasome components when compared healthy individuals. In part, intense activation may be related autophagic impairment. Noteworthy, some conventional antidepressants induce autophagy, resulting less inflammasome. addition, fast-acting antidepressant ketamine, bioactive compounds physical exercise also shown anti-inflammatory properties via inhibition. Therefore, it suggested that modulation inflammasome-driven pathways effect. Here, we review role pathogenesis MDD, highlighting its priming are potential therapeutic targets for treatment MDD.
