As environmental plastic waste degrades, it creates an abundance of diverse microplastic particles. Consequently, microplastics contaminate drinking water and many staple food products, meaning the oral ingestion is important exposure route for human population. Microplastics have long been considered inert, however their ability to promote microbial dysbiosis as well gut inflammation dysfunction suggests they are more noxious than first thought. More alarmingly, there evidence permeating from throughout body, with adverse effects on immune nervous systems. Coupled now-accepted role gut-brain axis in neurodegeneration, these findings support hypothesis that this ubiquitous pollutant contributing rising incidence neurodegenerative diseases, like Alzheimer’s disease Parkinson’s disease. This comprehensive narrative review explores consequences gut-brain-axis by considering current gastrointestinal uptake disruption, activation, translocation neurological effects. now a permanent feature global environment, understanding gut, brain, whole body will facilitate critical further research inform policy changes aimed at reducing any consequences.

The intensification of microplastics (MPs) pollution has emerged as a formidable environmental challenge, with profound global implications. pervasive presence MPs across multitude mediums, such the atmosphere, soil, and oceans, extends to commonplace items, culminating in widespread human ingestion accumulation via channels like food, water, air. In domestic realm, kitchens have become significant epicenters for pollution. A plethora kitchen utensils, encompassing coated non-stick pans, plastic cutting boards, disposable are known release substantial quantities particles everyday use, which can then be ingested alongside food. This paper conducts thorough examination contemporary research addressing from utensils during usage focuses on health risks associated ingestion, well myriad factors influencing utensils. Leveraging insights derived this analysis, proposes series strategic recommendations measures targeted at mitigating production settings. These initiatives designed not solely diminish but also enhance public awareness regarding pressing concern. By adopting more informed practices kitchens, we significantly contribute reduction burden pollution, thus safeguarding both ecological system.

The ubiquitous presence of micro and nanoplastics (MNPs) in the environment has become a pressing global concern, particularly regarding potential impacts on human health. This review underscores urgent need for an integrative research framework that bridges gap between epidemiological observations toxicological insights. Human exposure to MNPs occurs predominantly through ingestion, inhalation dermal contact pathways. Epidemiological findings have consistently demonstrated diverse tissues, signaling broad emphasizing imperative explore health risks. Population surveys shown concentration feces people using disposable plastic tableware reaches 24.65 items/g. These results are associated with changes microbiota composition metabolite levels relevant central nervous system disorders, energy metabolism inflammatory responses. detectable abundance nasal mucus individuals wearing N95 masks was measured be 10.6 ± 2.3 items/mg. Moreover, population- based studies linked MNP adverse outcomes, suggesting correlation relationships specific diseases such as bowel disease (IBD) pulmonary ground-glass nodules (GGN). associations underscore necessity in-depth investigations elucidate toxicity mechanisms MNPs. Meanwhile, laboratory-based reveal causative various vitro vivo models been used gastrointestinal tract, lungs cardiovascular system. However, early failed reflect complexity real environment. To foster interdisciplinary collaborations, this paper aims reconcile disparities risks impacts. By critically reviewing recent advancements understanding MNPs, organ-specific toxicity, work furnishes comprehensive perspective implications
