As microplastic pollution has become an emerging environmental issue of global concern, microplastics in aquaculture have a research hotspot. For safety, economic efficiency and food safety considerations, comprehensive understanding is necessary. This review outlines overview sources effects aquaculture. External inputs processes are Microplastics may release harmful additives adsorb pollutants environment, cause deterioration as well toxicological effects, affect the behavior, growth reproduction products, ultimately reducing benefits entering human body through products also pose potential health risks at multiple levels. Microplastic removal strategies used various countries reviewed. Ecological interception purification considered to be effective methods. In addition, strengthening management improving fishing gear packaging currently feasible solutions. proactive measures, new portable monitoring system remote sensing technology broad application prospects. And it was encouraged comprehensively strengthen supervision talent exchange construction laws regulations.

Microplastics (MPs) have become a global environmental concern due to their considerable harm the environment and humans. However, only few researches been published on total removal of MPs from environment. Traditional treatment procedures were unsuitable for secondary pollutant development toxicity concerns. As result, several strategies treating investigated in recent years. This review covered recently developed degradation strategies, such as abiotic biotic, well relevant mechanisms present state advancement. Every method has its own set limits, advantages, disadvantages. each technique's strengths constraints thoroughly examined. Some recommendations potential research directions provided based gaps information analyzed 109 publications, lack standardized methodologies evaluating quantifying process, pathway analysis, field application. review's goal is give an in-depth account different MPs' disintegration processes, along with summary one's advantages disadvantages limitations.

Abstract Microplastic particles (MPs) are ubiquitous across a wide range of aquatic habitats but determining an appropriate level risk management is hindered by poor understanding environmental risk. Here, we introduce framework for ecosystems that identifies four critical thresholds, ranging from low regulatory concern to the highest where pollution control measures could be introduced mitigate emissions. The thresholds were derived using species sensitivity distribution (SSD) approach and best available data peer-reviewed literature. This included total 290 points extracted 21 microplastic toxicity studies meeting minimal set pre-defined quality criteria. meta-analysis resulted in development two effects mechanisms: food dilution with ~ 0.5 35 particles/L, tissue translocation 60 4100 particles/L. project was completed within expert working group, which assigned high confidence associated analytical developing very numerical thresholds. Consequently, several research recommendations presented, would strengthen quantifying threshold values use assessment management. These include need tests, improved mechanisms action better establish links ecologically relevant adverse effects.
