X-rays are widely applied in clinical medical facilities for radiotherapy (RT) and biomedical imaging. However, the sole use of cancer treatment leads to insufficient radiation energy deposition due low X-ray attenuation coefficients living tissues organs, producing unavoidable excessive doses with serious side effects healthy body parts. Over past decade, developments materials science nanotechnology have led rapid progress field X-ray-activated tumor-targeting nanosystems, which able tackle even systemic tumors relieve burden exposure large doses. Additionally, novel imaging contrast agents techniques also been developed. In comparison conventional external light sources (e.g., near infrared), technique is ideal activation nanosystems applications its nearly unlimited penetration depth organisms. this review, we systematically describe interaction mechanisms between provide an overview X-ray-sensitive recent on cancer-associated theranostic applications.

Abstract Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play an essential role in physiological and pathological processes. Studies on the regulation of ROS for disease treatments have caused wide concern, mainly involving topics ROS‐regulating therapy such as antioxidant triggered by scavengers ROS‐induced toxic mediated ROS‐elevation agents. Benefiting from remarkable advances nanotechnology, a large number nanomaterials with ability are developed to seek new effective ROS‐related nanotherapeutic modalities or nanomedicines. Although considerable achievements been made ROS‐based nanomedicines treatments, some fundamental but key questions rational design principle held low regard. Here, can serve initial framework scientists technicians optimize nanomedicines, thereby minimizing gap biomedical application during stage. Herein, overview current progress ROS‐associated is summarized. And then, particularly addressing these known strategies therapy, several principles presented. Finally, future perspectives also discussed depth development

Janus nanoparticles (JNPs) refer to the integration of two or more chemically discrepant composites into one structure system. Studies JNPs have been significant interest due their interesting characteristics stemming from asymmetric structures, which can integrate different functional properties and perform synergetic functions simultaneously. Herein, we present recent progress particles, comprehensively detailing fabrication strategies applications. First, classification is divided three blocks, consisting polymeric composites, inorganic hybrid polymeric/inorganic composites. Then, are alternately summarized, examining self-assembly strategy, phase separation seed-mediated polymerization, microfluidic preparation nucleation growth methods, masking methods. Finally, various intriguing applications presented, including solid surfactants agents, micro/nanomotors, biomedical such as biosensing, controlled drug delivery, bioimaging, cancer therapy, combined theranostics. Furthermore, challenges future works in this field provided.

Integrating multifunctional nanostructures capable of radiotherapy and photothermal ablation is an emerging alternative in killing cancer cells. In this work, we report a novel plasmonic heterostructure formed by decorating AuPt nanoparticles (NPs) onto the surfaces CuS nanosheets (AuPt@CuS NSs) as highly effective nanotheranostic toward dual-modal photoacoustic/computed tomography imaging enhanced synergistic radiophotothermal therapy. These heterostructures can confer higher conversion efficiency via local electromagnetic enhancement well greater radiation dose deposition form glutathione depletion reactive oxygen species generation. As result, depth tissue penetration improved, hypoxia tumor microenvironment alleviated. With efficacy radiotherapy, be eliminated without later recurrence.
