Abstract Norcantharidin (NCTD) is a demethylated derivative of cantharidin (CTD), the main anticancer active ingredient isolated from traditional Chinese medicine Mylabris. NCTD has been approved by State Food and Drug Administration for treatment various solid tumors, especially liver cancer. A variety of nanomaterials have been developed specifically for biomedical applications, such as drug delivery in cancer treatment. The efficacy a system (DDS) depends on its biocompatibility, intrinsic high surface area, interconnected porosity, chemical functionality. Recent advances metal-organic framework (MOF) nanostructures led to the achievement these desirable features.
