Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy/scattering (SERS) has evolved into a popular tool for applications in biology and medicine owing to its ease-of-use, non-destructive, label-free approach. Advances plasmonics instrumentation have enabled the realization of SERS’s full potential trace detection biomolecules, disease diagnostics, monitoring. We provide brief review on recent developments SERS technique biosensing applications, with particular focus machine learning techniques used same. Initially, article discusses need plasmonic sensors advantage over existing techniques. In later sections, are organized as SERS-based diagnosis focusing cancer identification respiratory diseases, including SARS-CoV-2 detection. then discuss progress sensing microorganisms, such bacteria, detecting biohazardous materials view homeland security. At end article, we (a) identification, (b) classification, (c) quantification applications. The covers work from 2010 onwards, language is simplified suit needs interdisciplinary audience.

Lateral flow tests are one of the most important types paper-based point-of-care (POCT) diagnostic tools. It shows great potential as an implement for improving rapid screening and management infections in global pandemics or other health disorders by using minimally expert staff locations where no sophisticated laboratory services accessible. They can detect different biomarkers various biological samples provide results a little time at low price. An challenge regarding conventional LFAs is increasing their sensitivity specificity. There two main approaches to increase specificity, including assay improvement target enrichment. Assay comprises optimization signal amplification techniques. In this study, summarize specificity enhancement strategies with objective evaluation presented, such detection element immobilization, capillary rate adjusting, label evolution, sample extraction enrichment, etc. also key findings LFA performance solving limitations discussed along numerous examples.

Abstract Here, a multiplex surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)–immunochromatography (ICA) platform is presented using graphene oxide (GO)‐based film‐like magnetic tag (GFe–DAu–D/M) that effectively captures and detects multiple bacteria in complex specimens. The 2D GFe–DAu–D/M with universal bacterial capture ability fabricated through the layer‐by‐layer assembly of one layer small Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles (NPs) two layers 30 nm AuNPs 0.5 built‐in nanogap on monolayer GO nanosheets followed by co‐modification 4‐mercaptophenylboronic acid (MPBA) 5,5′‐dithiobis‐(2‐nitrobenzoic acid). The enabled rapid enrichment MPBA quantitative analysis target test lines specific antibodies, thus achieving signal amplification effect multilayer dense hotspots eliminating matrix interference real‐world applications. developed technology can directly simultaneously diagnose three major pathogens ( Staphylococcus aureus , Pseudomonas aeruginosa Salmonella typhimurium ) detection limits down to level 10 cells mL −1 . good performance proposed method real urinary tract infection specimens also demonstrated, suggesting great potential GFe–DAu–D/M–ICA for highly sensitive monitoring infections or contamination.
