Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a major healthcare burden on the population worldwide. Early detection of this disease is important in prevention and treatment to minimise morbidity mortality. Biomarkers critical tool either diagnose, screen, or provide prognostic information for pathological conditions. This review discusses historical cardiac biomarkers used detect these conditions, discussing their application limitations. In recent years, the focus of research has shifted from use mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for transplantation to their secretory exosomes (MSC-exosomes) treatment numerous CVDs, including atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction (MI), heart failure (HF), ischemia/reperfusion (I/R), aneurysm, stroke.
